Treyarch is actually a very competent dev studio. But for FPS games they are quite a few notches below infinity ward, so IW kinda makes 'em look bad.
Also, Treyarch seems to excel more at improving someone else's game when porting rather than starting completely from scratch.

Ah so that is why COD 3 is so much better then COD 2.
Still I will probably end up getting it but I definitely think this is a step backwards not having Infinity Ward working on the sequel.
