Much more solid than I was anticipating! A few shots here and there are oddly soft, but detail for the most part is excellent(it always much more clearly identifies the stunt doubles on surf boards
), I can't imagine this one looking any better. The surround was suprisingly lively, and music of the score is well reproduced, holding up quite well.

It was a stretch giving it a 7. For the most part detail is good, it can just be hard to notice through the EE. Grain is heavy throughout, but I remember that being part of the theatrical experience. This is the second worst transfer I've seen to HD(Lethal Weapon 2 and it's massive jaggies holding the title), but still an improvement over the DVD. On my set up on a 147in screen, the DVD is completly unwatchable(one of the few DVDs that is), at least this isn't. The audio is a nice upgrade. I wonder if this will ever get the proper treatment it deserves.
