Some older stories I remember...
-1995: I viewed most of the helicopter climax of
Outbreak with the picture screwed up so the top of the image was at the bottom of the screen! Ditto one several-minute stretch of
The Patriot five years later.
-1996:
Mission: Impossible unspools for nearly two hours without a hitch, but then, during the train/helicopter climax, just as Tom Cruise has stuck the gum/explosives to the helicopter cockpit and is getting ready to jump back onto the train...the movie abruptly cuts off and is replaced by the pre-show trivia bullshit and muzak!
You should have heard the
roars of audience disapproval at that. They did manage to get it fixed about five minutes later, but the effect had been pretty much ruined.
