I’m really close to getting one of these receivers. My shoulder angel is telling me to get the 805 because I don’t really care about upconversion all that much. But, the shoulder devil is stabbing his wee pitchfork into my neck, telling me to get the 875 because it’ll impress the ladies.

Well, what are the actual non lady impressions that differ between the two?

The only thing I'm sure of is that the 805 has crappy video processing. But, again, I've never really been a fan of upconversion, so I'm not sure I even need that.

I think the 875 may have better DAC's as well.

You might want to check the DACs to be sure but I think the 875 goes to Burr Brown DACS all around. Either way, both the 805 and the 875 are dreamy!

I dunno, it's got the Reon Ruined touts (you don't care...for now?), an extra HDMI in (4 vs. 3) and a bit more horsepower.

$600 difference.

What happens when you upgrade your pj? Will it compete with the Reon or is that moot when that time comes?

And what the hell is with the green display? At this moment I don't like that.

Yeah, I'm unsure about really touting the Reon in the 875 since I would think without an SDI output, transport, or a player that outputs untouched video, its full potential won't be unlocked within an A/V receiver.

That's to say that if you hooked up a Denon 3910 up to it, you'd only be getting a Reon processed image of the 3910's DCDi processed image.
