Help me. Need new Center

So it looks like my center, which has had a broken positive input for a while that I have improvised to hold in place, has finally gone and it no longer is taken a clear signal on that side, My center remains very fuzzy on all inputs. I am going to confirm this tonight by hook a spare speaker up to make sure it is not the receiver or cable or anything else.

In the mean time I am looking getting a new center channel. My budget currently sits at around $300 or just over which means the Def Tech center I wanted at $499, I can't get just yet. I am looking to do a quick purchase, so that means Best Buy, Frys, or Circuit city.

I currently have a pair of Polk Monitor 50's upfront

Suggest away please?

Depending on how good the imaging is with your current front mains, I would highly suggest trying out "phantom center". It could be more than enough to get you buy for a while; it certainly would be with my speakers. The Polk CS1 at Circuit City is right at $180, and I'd be inclined to recommend that, since it matches you current mains (if I'm not mistaken). Otherwise, if the Def Tech is still a goal, I'd try to minimize the expense by getting by with something on the virge of too cheap to be worth a damn (phantom center would likely be better though) or seek out options on eBay and Craigslist. My Boston Acoustics rears (which were ones my mains) were bought used, and you'd never know it if by looking at them or hearing them; $75 too!

the CS2 at $299 would actually be my first choice. I do like the idea of going polk to match my monitor 50's. Still, I am open to other suggestions.

Is it impossible to fix your center? Is the damaged input broken at the external wire connection, or is it broken inside the case?

Perhaps open the case and try a hookup beyond the broken connection. If it proves okay, just figure a way to repair or replace or bypass the broken connection for now.

Sorry, maybe I should have been more clear. Turns out, it wasn't my center that was the culprit, but my receiver. So I replaced the receiver.
