Older speakers what to do?

This is not a sales pitch!

I'm not sure if this will fly here but here goes. I recently replaced my HTiB Onkyo speakers with a Klipsch RB 61 system and SVS Sub. Now what do I do with the old speakers if I can't sell them locally? They work fine I just outgrew them. I thought about giving them to my father but his room is too small for them but they would sound damn fine in his room. Should I just put them in an already cramped closet or just pitch them out. I have been asking $250 (in a local trade and sell paper) for them is this too high of a price? I would put them on Craoglist but there is no way I can ship them due to weight plus I've never listed anything on there.

Thoughts or suggestions welcome.

I'm not familiar with the speakers bundled by Onkyo at all, so I have no idea what they're worth or what the specs might be. Is it a complete 5.1 setup (i.e. with sub)?

I would put them on Craigslist. I haven't bought or sold anything there, but virtually everything in the "Grand Rapids, MI" pages is local. You most certainly can specify "local pickup only". If they don't sell, drop the price 'till they do. Anything is better than tossing them.

Also, if they're reasonably good speakers, I would consider NOT mentioning that they came with a "HTiB system", specifically the "iB". Home Theater System might be OK. HTiB speakers have a reputation of being no better or little better than a "shelf system". I certainly wouldn't put it in the subject, and would include specs, maybe pictures, and very detailed descriptions.

Listing stuff on Craigslist is simple. I think that's your best bet if you don't want to ship them.

Yeah, Craiglist is the best place and that is designed for local stuff that people pick up from you.

I guess I'll have to find some pics of them and give Craiglist a shot. Looks like I have another project this weekend.

Oh Firestorm the answer is yes there is a down firing sub.

Does Craiglist charge a fee for the ad?
