I've never listened to them and don't recall a lot of talk about them a few years back when researching speakers. I think Klipsch may have bought Jamo, but don't qoute me on that.

What model were you looking at anyway? Certainly not their $14000 top of line ones....

Anyway, here's a review of the 803's.

I auditioned a pair, before I bought my Paradigm Monitor 7s, two years ago. I don't have a particularly "well developed" ear, and I had to trek 20 minutes between stores (and generally on different nights), it was hard to pinpoint the differences in sound. I wish I could remember the model, but the store owner was offering the floor models to me for around $450 for the pair. Given the price, I was fairly impressed and considered purchasing them.

This model sported decoupled tweeters. It's obviously difficult to say exactly what they sounded like, 2 years after the fact, but those tweeters were touted as being less bright and less harsh than the more common metallic (platinum and titanium) tweeters. If I had listened to some Van Halen on them, I could probably comment better. I guess I preferred the more lively sound of the Monitor 7s though, and I thought the 7s were a better looking and better built speaker. They're also HUGE compared to the Jamos. But, the 7s were also more than $200 above the cost of the Jamos.

If the owner (it's a very small shop) has a priced equivalent to the 7s, my decision *may* have been different.

I'll have to find a place to demo them. I can get them at a discount so I am considering a center speaker since I need the replacement.

So you have Jamo mains? If not, what besides price is your interest in not keeping things up front (most critical IMO) the same?

Quality for my money really. I can get the Jamo at 40% so if I pay a similar amount as the other centers I have been looking at, but be able to take a step up in quality, I will do that.
