Wireless speaker system
Has anyone had experience with something like this, or know someone who has?
The only thing I wonder about, aside from if the feed will be steady and reliable, is when I'll get into 7.1 if I could use two of these and they won't interfere with each other. Or maybe there are 4 channel versions around? Something like this would save me from buying a bunch of new speaker wire and running it under the house (drilling, crawling under the house) or tacking it along the wall (unsightly). I've never tried any wireless speakers, but that "Rocketfish" appears to have a 50 Watt (25Watt/Channel) amp in the receiver and you would have to run speaker cable from the wireless receiver to your speakers, not to mention power from the wall to the wireless receiver. 25Watts might be enough, but it depends on whether the amp is any good or not.
Personally, we currently have an unfinished basement and I would find it less troublesome to run speaker cable. Then, there's no worries about wireless interference or another device. IIRC, I picked up 100' of 12awg speaker cable, with 10 banana clips and shrink tubing, from Blue Jeans Cable for under $80 to replace well over $100 worth of Monster 14awg and junk Monster bananas. But, it may be worth trying if you want to avoid running cable under the floor, especially in an apartment. One other thing to note is, if these devices operate on a 2.4Ghz signal, as the Rocketfish does, they're vulnerable to interference from WiFi, Cordless phones, microwaves, etc...

It does not bother me at all about having the wires go from the AVR to the transmitter and then from the wireless receiver unit to the speakers. I understand that wireless doesn't mean no wires at all. It's just the fact that there won't be the wires crossing the room. Also, I see the AC power as a good thing, in not having to worry about replacing / charging batteries.
I still have some time to decide about this, and would be interested in hearing from someone who has had experience with them. Miggy, the Thief

Firestorm mentioned all the obvious complaints. I would also add that the power being fed from the wall can interfere with the receiver processing the output from the transmitter - in other words, it wont sounds as good.

I checked and they have plenty in stock at my local Best Buy.
My plan is to buy one there and then make sure the box and packaging stays in good condition. I'll test it out for a few days and if it sounds like crap or if there are unacceptable issues, then I'll take it back. At this point, I'm curious to see how it works for myself. There are a lot of good reviews... but some bad. It might be one of those situations that it works for some and not others - depending on what wireless devices you're using in the house, etc. Of course, I'll report my experience back here for you guys!
