Amazon.ca fall sale

Just letting Canadians (or perhaps Americans as well, if interested) know that Amazon.ca is having a fall sale. It's advertised on their site, and I also got an e-mail from them advertising the sale.

Some Excellent Deals to be had

Seeing as how the exchange rate is approximately $1USD=.62CAN there are soem deals to be had for those living in america. I picked up The first three seasons of sex and the city, the royal tennanbaums and the upcoming lord of the rings directors cut for around $100.

I had to look into this.

Ended up preordering Band of Brothers ($90CAD) $56 USD

Found a $10 coupon too

So I walked away with Band of Brothers for just $53 USD

Can't beat that with a stick.

Thanks tqpix, you made my month.

just did a google search for 'amazon.ca coupons'

found a bunch of different coupon/deal sites

the coupon I used was a first-time customer coupon

i was surprised amazon accepted it, I guess they consider amazon.ca different from amazon.com or amazon.co.uk eitherway, $10 off was pretty nice

Update:
the coupon code was CANADASMAG5T for anyone else that might be getting something

Hmmm, this sounds like the kinda deal I was looking for.

Anyone ever ordered from here before? Hows their shipping? Also, its not going to be subtitled on the case and in the movie in French or something is it?

These deals sound great! Can someone give some information to a newbie like myself? Are all these discs Region 1? Will they play in a standard player? Are they going to have the same sale in the US? Any help would be appreciated!

hey guys,

I've never ordered from Amazon.ca before but I've had good experiences with both Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. It's a pretty standardized experience I hope.

As for things having biligual cases and stuff, I'm not exactly sure. On the Band of Brothers set I ordered it had the same item number as the US set on Amazon.com so I assume it's the same. But you never know, I guess I'll find out in a few weeks.

But most things are the same as the US versions as I understand, except for exceptions depending on the distributer. Prehaps a Canadian member might be able to enlight us more on this that I can?

As far as playback, Region 1 is Region one so I'll play in your US player.

I don't think Amazon.com is going to have a sale like this. The real bargain here other than the slight sale is the the exchange rate really works to your benefit thanks to the value of the Canadian Dollar. ie $0.63 CAD = $1.00 USD.

Hope that helps some.

I also ordered BOB for CDN $85.xx after coupon plus s/h. I live in the U.S.

Observations:

1. I used my amazon.com login when ordering. I was still able to use the $10 off first time customer coupon. sweeet.

2. I have received my order confirmation. It was in both Eng & Fr. (Again, I am in the U.S. bi-lingual is not common in the midwest)

3. I have received my shipping confirmation yesterday. Because it's intl shipping, they said they could not provide a tracking number.

4. I have not checked my CC to see what the currency exhange rate was, nor what the conversion fee was.

5. Obviously (see #3) I have not received my package.

I will update when I see what shape it's in and when I check the damage to the CC

A big, big shoutout to tqpix. Thanks!

Thank you tqpix!

Just pre-ordered three DVD's from amazon.ca at great prices!

BTW: The CANADASMAG5T coupon has expired, but I also did a google search on amazon.ca coupons and found CANADAREWARD coupon which worked for $10 off my order. Thanks black__omega.

Item #'s are the same as for amazon.com (US).

Release date on one item seems to be later than US, but I'll wait for these prices.

Thanks for the new coupon man!

I ordered BoB today and it came out to $57 American with fast shipping.

BUT to all who have ordered. NOWHERE on the site when I ordered did it show the American currency, it kept showing the Canadian dollar amount. Is this normal?? Not even the conformation email gave me the amount in american. Is it suppose to be like this?

I ordered BoB and the Brotherhood of the Wolf set with the coupon and free shipping back when this post was first created, and I'm expecting delivery around the 19th.

I hope the BoB tin isn't a crappy bi-lingual job, but I won't lose any sleep over it

11/12 edit: Wow, I received my order today, a week earlier than I had anticipated

The BoB set is identical to the American version, no bi-lingual stuff, and good god is it beautiful.

Hooray! My Band of Brother arrived today. Not bad, little more than a week to travel from Ontario to Virginia, especially on like $4 shipping.

Anyway, here's what you guys are dying to know?....

Does anyone speak French? If so, tough. Cause my Band of Brothers seems to be identical to every US version I've seen. No French anywhere (spare the standard French 2.0 audio track).

Arrived in perfect condition, in standard Amazon cardboard wrapping.

And I do have to say this is the classiest DVD set I've ever seen. The packaging is remarkable.
