Because their pricing strategy is literally to charge more than list price and hope that mall shoppers who don't know better stumble in and buy this stuff. No, I'm not kidding at all.

My local Blockbusters must follow the same reasoning as they ALWAYS charge between $21.99 & $25.99 for everything. They don't price match as they are franchise stores & pick & choose the Blockbuster policies that they want to follow. I've got $45 in Blockbuster gc's which I'll end up buying a couple of the $21.99 dvds just to get rid of them. Two Weeks Notice will probably be the first (as it is listed on their site as $21.99 as opposed to Treasure Planet which is $25+). I got $15 in gc's as gifts from friends & a $30 gc from a GM Mastercard accepted application. 2 free dvds is nice but with pricematching I could've squeezed almost 3 full ones out of them. I don't see how they EVER sell a dvd at the prices they charge though since a block away you can go to a Wal Mart, Target, CC, or KMart & save about 5-7 dollars on everything they sell.

but FYE does have excellent prices on Wrestling DVDs!!!! and i personally have a hard time finding wrestling DVDs. only places i find them are at BB and FYE. most of the time wrestling DVDs are between 14.99 and 19.99 the first week but more around the 14.99-17.99 range.

Right now all their previously-viewed DVDs are $10. Dunno if it applies to franchise fuckers, but I got Brotherhood of the Wolf and Spy Kids 2 for $10 apiece yesterday(of course, byebye inserts).

Occasionally FYE will have some decent sales, but mainly it is there selection that they have going for them.

That is about the only policy they do adhere to but they seem to hold the titles longer before putting them out for $9.99. I'm also kinda picky & don't really want rentals with no inserts. Thanks for the advice though. I'll get a couple of new ones & then stay as far away from them as possible.

FYE tends to put releases out early.. sometimes even a month in advance.. so people who don't feel like waiting for a particular movie will pay those outrageous prices simply for the fact of owning it early. I know I was one of those people with UHF last year..

FYE (and Strawberries which they own but seems to have lower prices at times) sometimes offer mail in rebates for titles. I saw they had the Dawson's Creek set for $29 (as low as any of the retailers) but with a $5 rebate.

Sure, you have to wait 2 months for the rebate check (as I did for the Back to the Future set I bought from them), but it does work out to be a pretty good price.
