CompUSA DVD Clearout...

I'm surprised someone hasn't posted about this already. CompUSA is getting out of the DVD business, and just about everything is marked down to $14.88 or less including Bond discs, Criterion, etc.

When I walked out of the store with 14 dvd's, I realized just how obsessed I am with these dang things...

Not a hugh surprise. After working for them for almost five years the one thing I learned is...they can't do much right.

So has anyone confirmed this to be the case nationwide?

Looks like it's nationwide to me. They've got the Abyss for $14.88! I got mine from Reel for $21 on a pre-order! Not everything is a bargain, but certainly worth checking out...

Hmm. I stopped by my local ComUSA, and practically everything was over $20, usually at least $25. Their selection is crap anyway.

My closest CompUSA had quite a few dvds for $15, but the selection was mosly crap, although I did find 6 classics that I wanted for that price.

At one CompUSA I went to, none of the prices on the discs had been changed and there was no sign indicating the clearance. But when I asked about it, they confirmed it.

Well, hell. I thought about asking. Not sure why I didn't. Maybe I should call first before driving half-way across town again. But at least it'll give me another chance to play with the G4 Cube...

I just happened to stop by the only CompUSA in Indiana (at least, I believe it is the only one) in Indy last weekend (to get a new printer cartridge for my Laser Jet) and they had no DVD's at all. I figured they had just relocated them, but nada. So, I figured they had just decided to liquidate everything. Now I see this thread and my theory is confirmed.

I never shopped there for DVD's because it is in an area of the Indy-area that I don't go to a whole lot, but why weren't they able to stay in the DVD business? Prices to high, selection crap, or what?

Just curious.
