Has anyone noticed that the $ for best buy DVDs are ~$15?
I guess it's either that the format is just getting more popular, or that they arte dropping prices in prep for Christmas, and to bolster DVDplayer sales, But the avarage price for a new release at Best Buy is around 15 dollars.
THIS IS GREAT! What could be better than dirt cheap new releases, other than free ones! I have been buying at least 2 a week, and the end of this month is going to break me... |

Yeah, I also noticed the Best Buy tends to have really GREAT prices on new releases. owever, the prices jump right back up after the releases aren't new anymore.
So, unless buyers jump on the new releases when they're new they'll get stung...... Peace...... |

That toy Story 2 double set was $19.99 the first week.....
I think everyone would save alot of money if they just picked up thier favorite discs the First week.. let's say the avarage cost of a DVD is $22, now with that avarage first week being $15, that saves you $7, and if you are a nut like me and buy at least 4 DVDs a month, thats $28 dollars saved, and you can use that to buy 2 more new releases! AND! Save the reciepts and use the Studio Buy 4 get one free, and youll clean up! |

Yup, I've noticed the same thing. I picked up the Ultimate Toy Box for $39.99 and grabbed Mission Impossible: 2 today for $14.99. You can also order from their website at www.bestbuy.com and have them shipped to your home (right now, for free!) or held for pickup at the Best Buy store near you.

This week I picked up MI2 and The Patriot at Best Buy, $14.99 and $15.99 each, respectively. I wasn't even planning on buying The Patriot, but for that price I just couldn't pass it up. Their prices are getting to be better than online prices, at least for new releases. And I don't even have to pay shipping.

There isn't a Best Buy real close to me, but for American Beauty I just took their sale flier to Circuit City which they price matched so I got it for 15 bucks (a dollar off Best Buy). Does Best Buy have a large selection? The Circuit City near me doesn't. It's so annoying, I live in this HUGE retail center area (king of prussia, pa) and there is no Best Buy that isn't like a half hour away.

I think it is a northern chain, as I live in Huntsville, AL, and we have the only one in the state, and the nearest one is in Nashville, an hour and a half away... I had to drive up there to get a 12" subwoofer that the BB was out of...
if it makes you feel any better, Seattle Just got thier first BB! I went to the one here, and they had a toshiba 40" 16x9 television, open box, for $2100... I think I am going to sell my Transformers collection, and use it to get a 16x9, but my girlfriend says I'll regret getting rid of them! WHAT TO DO?! |

This sounds great. I'll be paying more attention to new releases on their first week out.
However, have you noticed that their pre-order prices aren't really that great??? For example, they list Gladiator (11/21) on pre-order for $21.99. But this really isn't a great deal, MSRP is $29.99 and more importantly, other vendors have it better: like Buy.com for $16.99 and even Amazon.com has it better for $17.99. It's almost kind of a dis-incentive to pre-order with them....... Has anyone noticed this pre-order pricing (being significantly higher than other vendors) and does the price drop the first week it is out? |

Yeah, I would wager that the pre-order higher price is to appeal to the customers that are afraid they wont be able to get the disks that their families want for Xmas, or the people that think there will be a shortage on popular discs.. I would be willing to wager that the first week release of GLADIATOR will be about $18, which is cheaper in the long run (no shipping, instant gratification)... Just try to remember the release dates of
the discs you want, and if it was even a semi popular film, you can pretty much count on it being around $15... Nice! |

My local Circuit City has been having similar sale prices lately. From October thru today I have gotten Patriot, U-571, Pitch Black, Frequency, and MI-2 all for $14.99. These low prices certainly don't hurt my feelings any.
