Why do you "need to know who has it cheapest asap"? By your own admission, you'll use it to "price match this at my local wal-mart monday night at midnight when I get it". Why goad me, or anyone else, into doing your work for you "asap" for something you won't need for almost 48 hours? Pirates Of The Carribean goes on sale on Tuesday, so if I even got the Roundup out on Monday then what harm is there?

Noone "needs" the Weekly Roundup, anyway...I do it for fun. I often get around to publishing it late afternoon on Sunday; it varies from week to week depending on when I feel like getting up off my ass to do it. My family is discouraged by the amount of time I spend on it, and would be thrilled if I gave it up. You don't pay me to do it (in fact I don't profit from it at all), so please don't try to get me to rush it, or any part of it.

FWIW, I'll be buying "PotC" for less than $15.99: Costco members who bought specially marked Disney/BV titles (like The Recruit, among many other choices) got a $5 coupon on the cardboard "security" box. The coupon is good only at Costco for a savings on PotC, who's normal price is $18.79...that brings the total price down to $13.79 (the best in town).

just to let you know Unicorn, I personally appreciate your hard work for the round-up VERY much !!!

...but spending time with the family is more important. DVD bargains come and go, but your family is a better bargain, in my book.

Unicorn - I want to use this otherwise useless thread to tell you again how much I appriciate the work you put into the Roundup every week. It's a great resource for us, and it's well-written and informative. I always look forward to reading it even if I don't have anything to get. Thanks for the hard work!

panhead4life - Every Sunday morning, regardless of when/if the Roundup will be posted here, when I wake up I scour the newspaper, find all of the usual ads (Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, etc.) and I hunt for the bargins myself. A lot of times it's just fun to read the ads and see how the DVD is being advertised; other times I just do it for the sake of finding out what the price is. Why don't you do the same? It's not that hard to open up the newspaper and skim the ads. It won't take every ounce of energy you've got; you'll have plenty left, I guarentee it.

i did didn't i.

but, i do think that Uni needs a breather. he has been working real hard for us.

i do think though that we should get a few regulars from the file together to chip in and help him out with the round-up so he CAN at least watch his kid(s) grow up. i'd hate to see him get divorced just so we can have the heads up on bargains.

what do you guys think?

I dont mind helping out a little bit, its not like I have anything better to do other than scaming Best Buy workers for $5 DVD's. Seriously, Uni if you ever need help with the Roundup I'm sure lots of people would be available to help. Oh, and Thanks. You have come in handy many times.

hey people, i have tried to look at the paper, but we don't get our ads until late sunday, so ya know what, i wasn't bugging anyone for the ad, i asked a simple god damn question to see if anyone knows how much it is. OK!? So lay the fuck off, and I DO appreciate Unicorn's work on the weekly updates, never said I didn't. Just wanted to know the price of one movie. Best Buy is the only ad that I basically get besides target, and this week I didn't get a best buy ad god dammit, so now I gotta go find one in town before tomorrow night.........K? K!!!!!!!!!!

panhead4life

oh, and for the record, I have never hassled Unicorn before for the weekly updates in the past months, just to let whoever said I did know that I haven't.

Doesn't sound like you appreciate it. A simple question like "Does anyone know the lowest price on whatever" isn't what you asked. You asked for the "Weekend Roundup" in the middle of the night when you must realize as a regular reader that Unicorn puts it up when he has the time to do us this FAVOR. While weekly roundup isn't copyrighted "like fair & balanced Fox lol" it is Unicorns column when & if he feels like providing us with it. It is also a holiday weekend. The man might just have other things to do first. You can't buy the dvd until midnight Tuesday morning which in my time zone is still 31 hours away so what's the rush?

Look guys, it's cool and all and I really don't think I'm gonna get divorced over doing this. As I say in my disclaimer, I mostly do it for myself and my family, and I don't mind sharing with you all.

But it DOES take extra time to share, because I often include titles that I'm NOT interested in at all, and do so for the sake of others that I know want them badly and that it's plenty of you. For instance, I have no desire for "To Live And Die In L.A.", but I know that boatloads of YOU do, so I throw it onto the list. For every one of those, the extra time adds up.

And I won't ever put the Roundup completely over my family, no way. That's what happened today; I spent time with them cleaning house, watching The West Wing - S1 with my wife, and going grocery shopping and also making a run to Goodwill to donate some old stuff. Not to mention moving in the direction of getting ready for Christmas.

So now, finally, I'm ready to post the Roundup today. I appreciate how much everyone - including Panhead - appreciates me doing this. I guess the only "payment" I get is feeding the old ego, so go ahead and do that.

And a final word for Panhead, and then maybe we can all abandon this thread: I see what you were trying to do. I don't mind that. I guess it was the choice of words that got me a bit upset. Maybe next time you can find a different way to make that request. I did, in fact, answer it for you, didn't I? Oh, and it seems that Target's "Low Price" is looking like $14.99, so maybe that's better for you in fact, if you're not a Costco member or have to price-match at Wal-Mart.

Cheers,

Yeah, I did, unfortunately, way back in February. Which was when they used to be posted earlier than they usually are now and I just wasn't used to the late afternoon posting yet. Now everyone knows that late afternoon/early evening is pretty much a given time for the Roundup and that's when I expect it.

Now, if for some odd reason the Roundup wasn't up on Tuesday morning, then I'd ask, but now, late afternoon Sunday is a given and no one should have to ask. If anything, look at the post time on last week's Roundup post to get a general idea of when the new one is going to be posted. And I didn't claim that I needed the prices on what I begged for ASAP, I just asked what the (then) seemingly delay in the posting was.
