Weekly Roundup 12/16

I'm so terrific I have my own toll-free number: 1-800-UNBELIEVABLE! (quote from The Adventures of Ford Fairlane)

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definate price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including. In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. I have a lovely wife and a five-year-old son I'd rather spend time with. Please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart prices in the standard Roundup: Wal-Mart sets prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart location. When it comes to Wal-Mart prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Milage May Vary".

Thanks Unicorn. Looks like I picked the right 2 of my 4 purchases to do from online stores (Escape From NY SE for $13.87 from walmart.com & Seabiscuit collector's set from Amazon for $28.64 with SSS, STL & Trivia Nickels). I'll be hitting CC for Freaky Friday & LXG (with a BB price match). Great roundup!

Great Round-up as usual Unicorn.

I knocked Ford Fairlane out of action in November, and like many here, I took advantage of the EFNY mis-price at wal-mart.com.

With those two taken care of, the only one left is LXG (my last new release dvd of the year) and I've got a card that I plan to use to knock a few bucks off the price.

I understand your complaint, but for anyone who purchased X2 last month they received a $3-off coupon (am I right that it was $3?) towards LXG, but it's possible that it requires that you mail away for it. I don't actually have this coupon in front of me right now, but I just wanted to inform you of that discount opportunity. It would bring that price to a comfortable $14.99 instead. It's also possible that this is the reason retail stores aren't selling it for an appropriately low price.

It's mail-off, which explains why I forgot about it.

Just a side note Best Buy has a lot to offer in their 3 for 30 deal this week. I can't remember what was all offered, but my wife & I decided on getting 6 to 9 discs when we go there later this week.

Looks like Targhetto for South Park- Costco doesn't carry it? They always have the best prices on sets.

Best Buy for Seabiscuit with my $10 in Reward Zone coupons. There's some decent stuff in Mac's 3 for $30 post, but I'll be AMAZED if Best Buy has the Zorro Superbit in stock. It's never there during the sales, and there when there is no sale. I think they take it off the shelves before the sale.

I picked up Ford Fairlane yesterday at K-Mart for $5.99. They have a big "Under $10" bin in the Electronics section. Almost picked up PCU for $9.99 but I think I saw it lower somewhere else.

What is Target's low price on Seabiscuit? Also, what is the book available with it at Best Buy? I'd assume it's a copy of the book the movie is based on, correct? Thanks.
