Is the unrated version any better than the disappointing theatrical version that I saw on HBO?

I think the unrated version is better than the theatrical release because it fleshes out some of the story a little more. But if you didn't like the theatrical version, this one won't change your mind about the film at all. Fans of the movie will like having a few more things explained in better detail and the added dialogue, but it's nothing significantly different. And it is a typical unrated release in the fact that this would still get an R rating if submitted to the mpaa, so don't be expecting any more gore or any nudity. And it has all of the same extras from the first release (with the exception of the commentaries because this one has new ones for the extended cut) along with a more things.

When I last visited my local Best Buy a couple of weeks ago, the 1st version was priced at $14.99 while the 2-disc EE was $23.99. I'm wondering if this could possibly be a mistake in placing the wrong sticker on the wrong version, and might not be priced at $14.99 at every Best Buy.

If there's been a recent price reduction and this is the new price, I'm definitely picking it up. Will be dropping by my local Best Buy this weekend to check it out. I rented the 1st version and enjoyed it and would like to pick up the EE at a reasonable price.

from what i hear it is also going OOP... not sure if its true . but the superbit version will not have the unrated version. this will be the only way to get the unrated version. so best buy is trying to clear out some of these before the superbit comes out..

thats what i heard not sure if its true bout going OOP though.. has a nice cool comic book also.. inside.

FYI, I just decided to check out Best Buy's website to see what their prices were. The 2-disc EE is going for $24.99, and the 1-disc is $14.99, so there's no chance of getting the $14.99 price for the 2-disc EE online. Checking other websites, pricing seems still be in the $21-26 range at most places, so there's been no price reduction by the studio.

It appears that no online sites have implemented the price drop for the 2-disc EE yet, so your local Best Buy remains the best price so far for this set.

FYI, the price drop shown in the link above reflects the initial 1-disc release, not the 2-disc extended edition.

well i saw BOTH the single AND the 2 disc uncut at my best buy for 14.99

and since i got 5 bucks trade in for my R cut, it was only 9.99

. LOVE the packaging and the sweet mini comic book adaptaion and the seperate storyboard to final filmed moment in place of the insert BRILLIANT

Thanks again for this thread. I was at Best Buy today and bought me a copy. At first I thought they were all out, 'cause all I saw was the original release, but after digging past the double packs I saw they had two copies left of this extended version. I'm glad I knew to look.

Bought this yesterday myself (and its been well over a year since I bought something at "Worst Buy"). I had extra time during my lunch hour so I was browsing the DVD aisles and I recall some thread from DVDFile about seom Unrated cut of a movie...I just couldn't remember which. I saw it in the 'sci-fi' section & immediately remembered.

Just for the record, there were about a good 10 copies & each had a recently taggedyellow sticker with the $14.99 price on 'em.

Just wanted to follow up to this post. My local Best Buy has now repriced these Underworld EEs back to $23.99. It looks like the pricing to $14.99 was a mistake at the time, and when the 3-disc Hellboy came out and had a sale price with the Underworld EE, Best Buy noticed the pricing mistake. They've switched it back at my local store.
