Best Buy Rewards Free Renewel

Check your e-mails...
I received the following:

Quote:
As a charter member of the Reward ZoneŽ program, you were there for our pilot program and then again when we launched our national program last year. We don't want to lose you, so we're reactivating your membership at no charge. Your new expiration date for this new membership period is 10/31/05.
Your membership number and password are unchanged. You can begin racking up new points now - we'll keep the exclusive content coming. In fact, for a limited time, you can earn a fast 5,000 bonus points* if you sign up to receive your reward certificates by e-mail. Go online for this offer and many others, plus the latest program news at http://bestbuy.postfuture.com/P/v3/r...B1%3B02&a=1007.

Question? Call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289) toll-free.

Sincerely,
Member Service,
Reward ZoneŽ program *Offer valid through 10/31/04
I didn't bother to renewel after my card expired since they changed it so that you have to buy more to get a $5 rewards certificate. Since it's free though I guess I'll keep price matching at Best Buy. Maybe Best Buy is offering free renewels because they didn't expect so many people not to bother with their renewel since they changed their points policy.

When you have a moment, could you let me know what the new reward levels are? I wasn't aware that Best Buy had made this change.

Basically, you need to spend $150 to get a $5 GC (up from $125). I think there were a few other changes, but that is the main one. I wasn't going to renew, but I have a few major purchases in the next year, so they got me...this time.

Yeah that's basically why I didn't renew. I didn't feel like paying more money than I did last time. But I don't mind the free renewl.

I decided to renew as well, but since I wasn't a charter member, I had to pay for it. Compared to the Replay program, the Reward Zone doesn't offer much to the customer and now that the reward levels have been raised, it's even more disappointing. It could be so much more and it sucks that they're not taking advantage. I'll have to see how much I earn in certificates before I renew again next year.

I've been a charter member also, when they were testing out the programs with the bright yellow cards that were somewhat transparent, but did not get a renewal notice. When I login to the site, it says my current membership will expire 10/31/04. Hmmmm, I wonder how they select who gets the free renewal.

Just curious, when did you receive the email regarding the free renewal?

I think it had been expired for about a month before I got the free renewl email. I'm not exactly sure when it expired since I never went to the best buy site to keep track of my points or anything. The way I found out it was expired was when I tried to use it.

I wish I didn't pay to renew mine. I didn't even notice they upped the amount of points you needed to earn a certificate until after I did renew.

I did not renew when mine expired. I racked up about $50 in $5 certificates in my year's time, so the $9.99 renewal would have paid for itself (I got the first year for free).

I was not "invited" to renew for free this time around and I slacked and it ended up expiring last month. I did receive a notie that I can get 3 months free if renew now. I may still renew. Although the $58 I just spent on the Jason set would have otten me closer to that $150 for the new certicate.

Well, I'm about halfway to another certificate, and am debating whether to pay for the renewal. I'm not a heavy spender at Best Buy. I usually rack up $20 in certificates for DVD purchases over the course of a year, and I don't have any expensive equipment upgrades planned in the near future.

I've been buying more DVDs online over the past year, and picking up new releases at Fry's most of the time. I am annoyed that it takes a month for purchases to be logged and recorded into the account, and then another 2-3 weeks before the certificate arrives in the mail.

Unless I get the free renewal offer before it expires, I will likely let the membership lapse.
