Tower Records DVD sale this weekend

Just got an ad with my local newspaper today advertising a Tower Records DVD sale this weekend, where every Columbia TriStar DVD is on sale for 25% off or more. Sale lasts thru Sunday, 10/10.

Now, honestly, I don't know how many good deals there might be. In my last visit there, a lot of DVDs were at MSRP prices, but there were some titles at 20-25% off MSRP already. If you can take off an extra 25% off those prices, that might amount to some really good deals.

I have a couple of Columbia titles I've been wanting to get, like Candyman SE and A League of Their Own SE.

Looks like their website has the same sale, only that sale will last through November 1.

Thanks for posting the sale, limacharliewhis, but, in truth, we probably won't find many Columbia titles really "on sale" this weekend at Tower. The fine print on the flyer says, "Reg. Price" below the big print, "25% or more off."

So if the regular price (i.e. MSRP) on something is $25, it's going to be the super-low price of $18.75 this weekend!

If anyone finds an exceptionally good deal out of all this, please be sure to share with us.

There are several titles at Tower that are "on sale" for $6.99 this weekend. I'm not sure if they're worth that price, but I thought I would mention it.

These are the $6.99 titles pictured:

Go
Baby Geniuses
Godzilla
(1998)
...And Justice for All
sex, lies, and videotape
Johnny Mnemonic
The Freshman
Peggy Sue Got Married

The ad says there are 100 DVDs for this price.

All titles that can be found in the Walmart $5.50 bin.

Well, if the prices at their website match the ones at the store, their regular price for the Candyman SE is $14.99, which is already 25% off its $19.95 MSRP. 25% off that would be $11.24, which would be among the cheapest I've seen for that title and would be cheaper than all current online websites.

These are the types of deals I'm hoping to find this weekend. But yes, I'm aware that 25% off MSRP prices will pretty much give you the same everyday prices at Best Buy or Target.

I dropped by my local Tower Records over the weekend, and the only good deal I really found worth picking up was the Candyman SE. The tag list price was $14.99, so I was expecting to pay $11.24 + tax, but for some reason, the price came out to $9.99 + tax, which is a great price. I'm a happy camper.
