Is their express shipping any better than their free shipping?

I've only ordered with them via free shipping and have pretty much sweared off ordering from them ever again, but their prices are already the cheapest, plus a 20% off coupon makes me reconsider actually buying from them.

Oherwise DDD has caused nothing but pain and suffering.

I order from them almost exclusively and my trick is to basically place the order and then totally take it out of my mind. If I sit and wait for my stuff to arrive, I'd be as frustrated as you were. For me, it is like a surprise present (although one I've paid for) everytime I get a package.

Same with me. During their summer sale, I was getting 1 or 2 packages of dvd's every week for a month. It was wonderful. It's a good thing I hate my family, because all my christmas money is going towards me.

This is what I've been waiting for to fill in a ton of catalog titles that I lost in Hurricane Charley. Unfortunately, I'm a webtv user & as of late I haven't been able to order except by phone as it won't take me to secure checkout (keeps sending me now to an ELF ad). Also, now I've loaded my cart with almost 150 of the 250+ titles I plan on buying this week & now all titles have disappeared & I'm getting very weird error messages. I have to hope a CSR will have the patience to sit on the phone Monday morning (I would hope they would the order I estimate at $3500 minus about $700 with the 20% coupon). Time to spend the insurance money where it'll buy the most dvds.

Thanks, Dilmo and insurance is a good idea (but I'm taking the free shipping). I just hope a CSR won't mind taking this size order over the phone. I've ordered a couple dvds here and there because of the problems webtv has with their checkout system but this could tie somebody up for quite a while.

I only ordered from them once, the last time they had the 20% off sale. Unlike a lot of people, I paid for the faster shipping. I have had many bad experience with "free" shipping including Tower (had two orders "dissapear" on me) and now my order with Best Buy has gone missing (they used the USPS)

Of course this is always an individual choice, but with all the money I save with their low prices and the coupon...I personally don't mind spending a few extra dollars to have it shipped UPS.

I am frankly quite sick of a few isolated incidents trumped up like they're normal behavior.

I wish I knew just how many packages DDD sends out that arrive perfectly fine, and the customer satisfied.
I'd bet it's a HIGH percentage, and they don't post all overt the internet about it.
I can say that I've received many packages from them, and not had any problems, other than a dented box that I could have returned for free.

And the "account problems" as far as I'm aware amounted to a lot of sound and fury over nothing.
No credit card numbers were compromised IIRC. It was just an unsettling experience for some people and they freaked out.
I'm not paranoid over random non-CC account information potentially showing up on a random customer's screen, and that only happened for a couple days.

So there's no concerns about using DDD from me.
They are still the best DVD e-tailer by far, and the best reputed even with the recent technical glitch.

I thought I would take the opportunity to buy The Leopard and La Dolce Vita, but the DD site is really FUBAR. I keep getting error pages.

But here's the bad part, the error pages are database error diagnostics (including the actual SQL query that failed). That's really stupid, stupid, stupid...anyone who knows anything about building web apps, understands you don't expose any information about your database to end users. That's downright idiotic from a security standpoint: you're just giving hackers a better starting point.

I've ordered from them four or five times for myself and never had a problem. I've ordered from them many other times and shipped to people as gifts and, (I assume because I haven't heard otherwise,) have never had a problem.

That's just me though.

So, any awesome deals going on here? I think I might pick up some more Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell discs. Maybe some box sets too. I'd have to confer with my girlfriend first though.
