The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Batman Begins 1-discAND [i]Big Lebowski CE AND George Romero’s Land of the Dead: Director’s Cut (NR)are ALL available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one(s) ! And, George Romero’s Land of the Dead AND Jacqueline Hyde AND Ma Mere are ALL being released in both R & NR versions…get the one that’s right for you.

--Best Buy is offering EXCLUSIVE in-pack movie cash to Saw 2 with the purchase of Saw: Uncut Edition at its stores. in theaters 10/28, up to $12 value.

--Best Buy has a deal on the new releases of Disney’s Tarzan, Emperor’s New Groove and Toy Story. Save $6 instantly when you buy ANY 2 of these DVDs. Each is priced at $16.99. Must be purchased on same receipt. No rainchecks.

--Buy Batman begins at Best Buy and get…hold on to your hats…TWO FREE BOTTLES OF YOUR FAVORITE COCA-COLA BEVERAGE! Instantly. Good towards any Coca Cola soda, juice or water products.

--Maybe a bit more significantly, Best Buy has EXCLUSIVE BOX ART with its copies of Batman Begins. Includes 72-page collectible comic book. Plus DVD special features give insights into the new Batmobile, Batsuit, fighting styles and more.

--Best Buy’s ad for The Mask of Zorro reveals that it contains movie cash worth $7.50 to see The Legend of Zorro in theaters 10/28. This does not seem to be a Best Buy exclusive. It should be in with copies everywhere.

--Circuit City has a FREE Collectible Lithograph with its copies of Batman Begins. In-store only. While supplies last. Minimum 50 per store.

--Circuit City’s Sunday flyer says CC’s copies of Elektra: Director’s Cut (NR) includes an on-pack comic book. While this, also, does not appear to be a Circuit City exclusive…no one else’s ads tout the inclusion of a comic book.

--Circuit City is, however, touting an EXCLUSIVE peek at Saw 2 with the purchase of Saw: Uncut (NR).

--Target’s got their FREE $5 GiftCard offer, this week, on its copies of CSI-New York: Season 1. Giftcard automatically given at register. No rainchecks.

--K-Mart features Batman Begins as the only new release in its Sunday flyer this week. AND, it doesn’t list a price. It DOES, however, advertise a $10 savings when you bou BOTH Batman Begins on DVD AND the Batman Begins Batmobile. No price is given on the toy car either.

Thanks for the round up! I already pre-ordered Batman Begins and Twilight Zone S4 from Amazon since they had the cheapest price on both. Looks like I'll be picking up Land of the Dead and the Batman Anthology from Target. Yeah, I know the last two films in the set suck, but since it's only a few dollars more than buying the first two alone I might as well pick it up. I'm still on the fence about the new Big Lebowski disc. DVD Beaver says the new one is a slight improvement over the old one, which I have. But at this point I almost might as well just wait for one of the optical HD formats, especially since there are really no new extras in this dvd.

Any reason why BB has no price on the Batman Anthology? Everything I want is the best price at BB, but I also need the Anthology.

The box set is up on the website now. It's priced at $57.99. You'll probably want to get it at Target instead.

I'm still wondering if Costco will have any good deals on everything Batman-related.

I just yanked Dark Shadows off of the RoundUp. Turns out the jerks putting the set out cropped the original 4:3 material to 16:9!

Well, Batman Begins left Amazon yesterday as did Ferngully from BestBuy.com (with a $5 digital coupon it only cost a total of $12.28). Went to CC for the rest & bought Batman SE, Batman Returns SE & Mask of Zorro DE from them. I wanted to get Tarzan SE but they got ONE fucking copy of Tarzan & ENG & even though I was the first one in the door it was not on the shelf (guarantee a worker got it before they even opened). I was going to pm BB & use the $3 coupon but no dice. I ended up going next door to Target where they had a whole end display of Tarzan & got it there for $19.99 minus the coupon which they took even though it says 2 disc SE on it. At least I did get the litho from CC. I asked the cashier if I could have one since I was getting two other Batmans & he was happy to let me have it.

Busy damn morning. Now, I got some dvds to watch.

Just wanted to post that Target is selling the Batman Begins 2-disc set for $19.99, which looks like the cheapest price among the brick-and-mortar stores, but not as good as Amazon's price.

It probably varies from Target to Target as the one I went to this afternoon was selling the 2-disc set for $21.99.

The Best Buy cover, is holographic, with the figure of Batman appearing and dissapearing against the backdrop of bats. Best Buy had no copies of the Anthology, which was ok as I was going to but it at Target. Also, went to Target, no Batman Anthology. Went to Circuit City, no Anthology. The guy in the DVD section at CC told me I could go to the check out, and buy a copy of it(as it is apparently coming tomorrow definitly), and bring the recipt tomorrow to get my copy. So, naturally I go the checkout, and she looks at me like I'm cross eyed, then she tells me to go to customer service, where they had the exact same response. So she took down my name and number, and said they would call when some came in(2 copies were due tomorrow ).

So tomorrow, I'll be calling around any place I can think of that carries DVDs, I don't care if I have to pay $70 for the damn thing now. Add to the fact I had a lousy day at work, truely 'one of those days'.

When I picked up the Anthology this afternoon at Target I managed to snag the very last copy. Looks like lots of places didn't anticipate the demand on this one.

The Walmart near me had the Batman Begin 2 Disc Deluxe edition listed at $17.99 in the media section of the store. The large stand display they had in the front of the store had no information about it at all.
Unfortunately they had no copies at all.

Anyway it's to Best Buy on the way home tonight to get that and Due South Season 3 with some McDonald BBBucks.

Finally got the Batman set. I called all over the area, and finally a Sam Goody across town had one, and they held it for me. I called Fry's Electronics, and the guy actually said he saw one as a customer picked it up to purchase! Every place I called told me they only got 2 or 3 copies on Tuesday morning and were sold out within an hour, no one anticipated any demand.

It was worth the hunt though, it's a beautiful set, the first Batman looks amazing!
