The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Doom (Unrated) AND Elizabethtown AND Just Like Heaven AND Waiting… AND Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit are ALL available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one(s) ! Also, BE AWARE that BOTH Doom AND Waiting… are being released in MAR-only “rated” versions. STAY AWAY! :f

--PHEW! Another big week…at least in quantity. We’ll see what you guys think of it in terms of quality.

--I was without a Circuit City flyer this week as I posted the RoundUp. I gathered CC info from various internet sources. Just Like Heaven will really clock in at $14.99 at CC.

--There are some discrepancies over whether Grounded for Life: Season 1 and MirrorMask are due for release this week. BB’s flyer shows Grounded for Life @ $24.99 and Amazon has it listed for $27.99 but many lists put its release at 2-21-06. Mirrormask is in the CC flyer at $19.99 but is listed in most sites as a 2-14-06 release.

--There is the potential that the Sex and the City collections will be released on Sunday (sted Tuesday). This, if it happens at all, may be a Target-only event.

--K-Mart has its usually informative flyer this week. Elizabethtown - $19.99. Doom, Bambi II, Wallace/Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit – Low Price. Does anyone still shop for DVDs at K-Mart?!

--Best Buy, this week, is offering a 2/$20 deal if you buy BOTH Waiting… ($16.99) and Van Wilder ($9.99). $17 + $10 = $27. $27 - $20 = $7 savings.

--Best Buy is also advertising an EXCLUSIVE ON-PACK BONUS DISC with its copies of Elizabethtown. The list no information about what the disc contains. Minimum 15 per store.

--Best Buy will give you $3 off any Disney DVD INSTANTLY with the purchase of Bambi II ($17.99) at their stores.

--Best Buy is also advertising FREE MOVIE CASH in its flyer with the purchase of the “Thriller Double Feature” 2-pack edition of the Harrison Ford movies Frantic & Presumed Innocent ($6.99). …to see Firewall in theaters 2/10/06 (a $10.50 value). Limit 3 per customer.

--Circuit City is advertising a $10 savings on Valentine’s Day flowers from ftd.com with the purchase of Just Like Heaven ($14.99) at their store.

--Circuit City is also advertising an EXCLUSIVE FREE MOUSE PAD with the purchase of Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

--Circuit City is also offering the opportunity to buy an $8.99 DVD for just $4.99 with the purchase of Bambi II ($19.99). Here is the list of $8.99 DVDs: Funny Factory With Donald, Funny Factory With Mickey, Hocus Pocus, Homeward Bound II, Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, Spy Kids, Tuck Everlasting.

--CC is also offering you the chance to pick up one of those Sex & the City collections FOR FREE with the purchase of either Volume 1 OR 2 of Sex & the City Season 6 ($34.99 apiece).

--Circuit City also has an EXCLUSIVE BONUS DISC with its copies of Waiting… ($19.99). The ads say the disc contains bloopers from the film’s production.

--I want to make note that Circuit City also is listing an impressive amount and variety of titles in its $9.99, $7.49 and 4/$20 sales this week. TAKE A CLOSE LOOK! :tu:

--Target is advertising a FREE BOOK with the purchase of Bambi II this week. Items are packaged together. Quantity limited. No rainchecks.

Thanks Freezer. Best of the Electric Company, Elizabethtown and Just Like Heaven for me this week. I'll probably pick up Wallace and Gromit down the road, but I'll wait for a price drop. It doesn't look like there's much new on the Breakfast at Tiffany’s disc. I love the film, but since I have the old one I'll probably just hold off for an HD version.

What are the contents of the 2-disc Wallace & Gromit? Is the second disc extra features for the movie, or does it just contain the shorts?

Second disc contains (all fullscreen, OAR):
- A Grand Day Out
- The Wrong Trousers
- A Close Shave
- Cracking Contraptions (10 shorts)

However, the Curse... is in FULLSCREEN ONLY in the 2-disc package

Great. Since I already have the previous release of the W&G shorts, I don't have to waste money on this. Single-disc release for me! Too bad about the foolscreen-only, though, for those that want it.

Actually, if you look at most places' price on the Three Amazing Adventures dvd, you can most likely pick up it and the widescreen Were-Rabbit discs seperately for the same price as the Cracking Collection set. All you'd be missing out on is the box to hold both discs. For instance, Amazon lists Three Amazing Adventures for $12.99, and Were-rabbit for $15.98. That's $28.97 total. The 2 DVD Cracking Collector's Set they have for $27.99. For for more or less the same price you can just buy the individual discs and get the widescreen Were-rabbit.

Wal-Mart has a special 2-pak W&G they're selling. Were-Rabbit, in either full or wide, plus an extra keep case containing "Gromit's Tail Waggin' DVD". It has all the Cracking Contraptions shorts plus a few other extras (some documentaries and kid related things). It was just under $20, and since I have the original W&G DVD, it was worth the extra $4-5.
