The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! I Dream of Jeannie: Season 1 is available in both Black & White and Color versions...get the correct one!

--Best Buy, this week, has the deal of the century. Save $5 instantly when you purchase BOTH Barbie Mermaidia AND Barbie Fairytopia ($14.99 apiece). Must be purchased on same receipt.

--Worth mentioning that Best Buy is advertising its “Our Lowest Advertised Price” on The Complete Superman Collection ($24.99) and South Park: Seasons 4 & 5 ($24.99 apiece) and Viva la Bam: Seasons 2 & 3 ($16.99).

--Circuit City is offering a FREE “die cast Mach 5 car” with the purchase of Speed Racer: Volume 4 DVD at their stores.

--Target has its usual $5 GiftCard to offer with the purchase of Sleeper Cell or I Dream of Jeannie: Season 1. Quantity limited; no rainchecks. It should also be noted that Target will NOT be carrying I Dream of Jeannie: Season 1 in Black & White.

Thanks as always Freezer. Things are picking up this week for me, and for the most part it looks like Circuit City has the better deals. I'll be picking up Babylon 5: Legend of the Rangers, Good Night and Good Luck, A History of Violence and Simple Life 3: Interns (yes, it's a guilty pleasure).

Circuit City wins this week, so I'll probably head there to pick up Anastasia and Good Night, and Good Luck. Oh, yeah, and for the record, GN&GL is being released in seperate widescreen and P&S editions, which I didn't see noted in the Roundup (although I can't think of anyone who would be interested in it who doesn't want widescreen.) The attention span of mainstream America for films such as it, especially black and white films, is alarmingly small. I am going to use the DVD to give a lecture to my American history class on McCarthyism, and I expect that I'm the only one who's seen it in there as yet. But I digess.

Thanks, Freezer!

Jake: I'm not seeing that anywhere. I'm pretty sure this movie is being released 1.85:1 only.

I'm so out of the loop on DVD releases it's crazy... I haven't bought anything in forever (actually I just bought Harry Potter, but that was the first thing since Batman Begins). Anyway, anyone know when Six Feet Under Season 5 comes out? I know it's march or may... one of the "M" months. I'll look it up before anyone answers of course, but it's fun to ask, because it makes me feel like I'm using these forums for what they're actually supposed to be used for.

Thanks for the price listing on Through the Fire: Dir. Cut. None of the sales papers had the price listed. I'll be going to Circuit City. Thank you very much!

When I went to pick up Babylon 5: Legend of the Rangers yesterday morning at Best Buy, their price in store was $16.99, not the $14.99 listed on bestbuy.com. Fortunately I was able to get them to price match the bb.com price. But I figured I better warn anyone who was planning on getting this disc there that the in store price is higher and you'll probably have to talk them into giving you the cheaper price.

Oh good. I could've sworn I saw some retailer (Amazon?) had a P&S one up for preorder at some point, but if it did I'm glad it's not there now. If it was planned, it's a good thing they reconsidered because the movie really does rely on the wide ratio.

Rangers is now $11.99 at Amazon. It dropped to $12.99 a couple of days ago, and I ordered, and now it's dropped even further (thankfully, Amazon will refund the difference as long as it's within 30 days).
