360 HD-DVD player + Heroes + King Kong + 5 HD DVDs for $179

http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=203249984

Pretty tempting offer, IMHO.

That is a fucking steal. You should have to wear a ski mask when you make that purchase.

That is tempting. The only thing I don't like is the way they group the movies into categories then make you choose only one from each.

They're basically free movies, Iggy. Get over it.

Heroes is a very expensive box set. Passing up on this offer would be a crime if you don't have HD DVD already (or don't have the movies - good way to stock up on HD DVDs and get a free drive out of the deal)! Note that the 360 HD DVD drive can also be hooked up to your PC and used with PowerDVD to play HD DVDs.

how does that drive work? does it actually connect to the 360, or just lay on top of it?

does it have HDMI?

It connects to the 360, on top or next to it, it's your choice. No HDMI.

Here's a pic. It runs component by the way. Looks pretty darn good on my native 720p 52" display.

It sits on top of it, or vertically next to it. It connects to the 360 via USB and also provides 2 additional USB ports using a hub. Finally, it uses the same output as your 360, so if you have a 360 without HDMI it uses component or VGA; if you have an HDMI 360, it uses HDMI.

Great deal... kind of annoys me since I bought one a month ago, but I got the free movies, just not Heroes.

I will survive.

The add-on looks pretty good over HDMI as well I must say, better than I remember it looking over analog. It's not the best player around but it completely works and for basically free it's hard to complain much.

Sorry fellas! I forgot about the newer 360's with HDMI. My bad.
