Well I think I might give this forum another chance and will probably be catching up on some of the older titles I've yet to comment on. Most of the ones I'd suggest seem to already have threads.

Got em all up to this point. Thanks guys!! Don't forget to participate when your movies come up...

We've discussed Dogma and Brazil so make sure you see the threads and jump on in.

I think we need to do another Musical Poll. I would really like to talk about Pink Floyd's The Wall

I'll go ahead and do a new poll each week.

As long as you all promise to do more than one sentence responses in the discussion threads.

If I may still suggest a poll... How about one for action films?

Things like:

Hard Boiled
The Killer
Face/Off
(yeah I like Woo, leave me alone)
Seven Samurai
Leon
Matrix(that's a stretch)
The Wild Bunch
Crouching Tiger
Boondock Saints(please)

Something we could discuss mostly for its action choreography and cinematography rather than its thematic values(in some cases). Just a thought.

As for regular suggestions. I'd like to see a Road to Perdition discussion.

ps. A War movie poll would also be neat. Anyone interested?

If it has not been mentioned already,

I would like to see a discussion here about the technical and thematic aspects of Robert Redford-directed films...particularly

Ordinary People
and
Quiz Show.

A few suggestions:

The Andromeda Strain: Still my pick for the best pure hard-SF movie ever.

Stagecoach: A seminal western, directed by John Ford and John Wayne's big break. What other reasons do we need?

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance: Another very influential Western.

Aliens: We've already done the first one, and some regard this film as one of the few genre sequels to actually surpass the original.

The Maltese Falcon: Bogie's big break and the film that practically invented the Noir genre.

The Abyss: Theatrical or director's cut. Is one better than the other or do they both suck ass?

Where do you sign up for guest discussion duty? I would not mind leading one for a film like LA Confidental,Quills or Romper Stomper

On second thought not a David Lean poll but a David Lean week or month to discuss, Docter Zhivago, Bridge Over River Kwai, and Lawrence of Arabia.

Well, pretty much I picked people who participated fully in a lot of the past discussions. If I see you show up a lot and you have a lot to contribute, you will be asked to participate.

I have all the noms up to here and will be posting more polls. Oh, and these nominations made me think of something as well...if you read this, you already know that I made a thread asking about it!!!

True... a 'misunderstood' film if there ever was one. There is a lot to be said for this flick... although, it is only a selfish request on my part because I have had some relative success converting people with this flick.

I also want to throw my votes in for:

The Exorcist
Goodfellas
Big Night
Victory
Seaching For Bobby Fischer

(if they haven't been done already - I'm new )

I would like to second this request for Hong Kong action cinema. The film industry and studio system in HK is a stark contrast to the Hollywood system and I believe this topic could be stimulate very interesting comparisons between the two.

I also think it japanese animation would be a good topic to be discussed and explored.

A couple of others I would like to see are:
Searching for Bobby Fischer
The Great Dictator
Metropolis
Aguirre, Wrath of God
Japanese samurai cinema
(Kurosawa films, Lone Wolf and Cub, Zatoichi, et al)
