Film Class - pick as many as you'd like...

Rules have been modified slightly, due to the sheer number of nominations everyone's given us! Cool...

I've kept track of film nominations and have 20 for you to choose from. Losing films (the bottom 4) will be dropped from the list until they are re-nominated. The remaining films that got votes from the first and second polls will be added back in as needed so we always have 20 to choose from. Please nominate films in the "Nominations" thread in this forum.

You may notice that four films have reappeared...these are the only holdovers from the first poll. Don't bother renominating films that weren't dropped from the polls, I'm keeping track.

The top four winners will be used for the following weeks:

5/5 - 5/11
5/12 - 5/18
5/19 - 5/25
5/26 - 6/1

And this poll will last for two weeks, till 4/4. Slade or I will make new threads for the winners and then close them. Hopefully then people can have more time to prepare. You can even watch them early and take notes!

OK? Start voting, everybody!

Can you guys not create the threads until we are supposed to talk about them! The forum is full of a bunch of locked threads, and it looks way to cluttered.

I personally like seeing which movies are coming up. I know I can look forward to Memento and then Se7en later on in April.

Morticia, what happens in the event of a tie? At the time I write this there is a four way tie between some pretty cool movies. What does a film goddess do in this situation?

Travis....
Good question, I'm sure there are many 'students' out there thinking the same thing.

In the event of a tie, we don't have a tiebreaker, we just use the 'tied' films. If we decide to pick the top 4, but there are two 'number fours', we then have 5 films to use.

In fact, this happened with the first poll. We were going to pick two, but there was a tie (Godfather was clearly first, but Boogie Nights was tied with Casablanca). So we used all three for film class.

OK, results are in! The results will also be found in the "Film Class - what's it all about anyway?" thread. Individual threads will not be created until a week or so before they are needed.

5/5/02 - A.I.
5/12/02 - Taxi Driver
5/19/02 - Unbreakable
5/26/02 - Fight Club
6/2/02 - The Shawshank Redemption (by virtue of a tie)

Since we're good until June, further polls will not be created until, let's say mid-May. Edit: Naw, changed my mind. I think I'll create a poll this weekend (4/6 or so) that will run for many weeks (like at least 6). That way newbies and vacationers can get their votes in!

Nominations will continue to be accepted in the Nominations thread.

Dropped films:

The Man who Wasn't There
The Third Man
Blue Velvet
Frequency
Blow
Three Kings
The Virgin Suicides (2nd time dropped)
