Film Class Poll One (Classics) - pick as many as you'd like

Thanks to everyone's enthusiasm, we have 53 nominated films! Unfortunately, we can only have 20 films per poll. So I am going out on a limb here, and will be splitting up the nominated films into 3 groups of twenty. I've added 7 films I came up with myself for rounding the groups out. I tried to group them fairly, but it was really hard....so, please, don't freak out and try to understand that there are so many films here it was very difficult!

This one is loosely based on "Classic" films.

Losing films (the bottom 5 this time) will be dropped from the list until they are re-nominated. After the three polls are completed, more polls will be made from the 'leftovers' as well as new nominations. Please nominate films in the "Nominations" thread in this forum.

You may notice that many films have reappeared...these are holdovers from past polls. Everyone's nominated films as of 4/8 should appear in the three polls. I will post one new poll per week, but the polls themselves will last at least 6 weeks.

The top three winners will be used for the following weeks:

6/9 - 6/15
6/16 - 6/22
6/23 - 6/29

In the case of a tie, the weeks will be extended. No tie-breakers in Film Class!

And this poll will last for six weeks, till 5/20. Slade or I will make new threads for the winners (not too early) and then close them. Hopefully then people can have more time to prepare. You can even watch them early and take notes!

Check the "what's it all about" thread for a running list of the films coming up.

OK? Start voting, everybody!

I personally resent "Gladiatior" being in the classic category. Get it outta there!

If you like that one, DrDetroit, wait till you see how I classified "Pay it Forward". Seriously!

Ah, the trials and tribulations us Gods and Goddesses go through!

Thanks for participating.....

uh, there wasn't enough films for "hugely popular Oscar winners that were also Braveheart ripoffs"

Perhaps it wasn't nominated?

Feel free to do so, but please, to help with my personal sanity post it officially in the "Nominate Films Here" thread in this forum.

Thanks, SilentFace....it will show up in a later poll.

Slight Change....

Slade and I talked a bit and figured out a new way of doing things, we'll give it a try.

I'll leave this poll up until Friday night, then I'll close it. Only the top film will be used. (or if there's a tie, I'll use the top x number of films.) I will post a new poll and let that run for a couple of weeks, and then have the third poll. Same thing, only the top film used. I get the feeling since there's easily twice the number of votes we usually get that the classifications are working!

But granted, I'm not sure where "Pay it Forward" should go.

Unless we don't get enough new nominations, the 'old' (read: used, previously voted upon) films won't get recycled into new polls. This may have to change based on participation, but I'll just wait and see.

Winners: 2001 and Citizen Kane

closing....
