Sci Fi/Fantasy/Horror
OK, I'm down to my last 2 batches of films for polls. This one is mainly Sci-Fi themed stories, based on imdb.com classifications. While Solarys (1972) is listed as "Drama" and "Abyss" is listed as "Action/Adventure/Sci Fi" I decided to list these films here as they just didn't 'fit in' with "Drama" due to the setting or plot.
And yes, "Brazil" as well....I almost included it both in the Comedy as well as Sci Fi...and maybe that's an oversight on my part. ![]() In any case, please vote for as many as you'd like to discuss, and the winner will be used in a future Film Class. For nominations, please use the Nominations thread. Thank you. (you may also suggest what category the films are in when you nominate them)

Well, I guess that's part of the trick. And a hint to all those out there: If you nominate a film, it's a good idea to check back occasionally so you can actually vote for it!

Wow! Some great choices here. Three of my favorite directors are there: Verhoeven (Total Recall), Cameron (The Abyss, Aliens), & Besson (The 5th Element).
That being said, the choice is easy for me: Dark City ![]() A film that totally blew me away when I saw it!

During college, when Total Recall came out, we had a long discussion in our philosophy class about it. It was great. Interesting how we preceive and what exactly is reality. Way cool.
Some great choices in the poll. I voted for Seconds and Waking Life. Seconds was amazing. I can't believe that Rock Hudson was in that movie. I wonder what the film would've been like in color. I love the movie as is but just curious. Waking Life was awesome. Totally a work of art. No pun. What an interesting way to present the material. The rest of the films I from the poll I also like with exception of The Abyss. I saw it a very long time ago and I thought it was boring. However, I was very young at the time and I also watched it on cable which means that it was pan and scanned. I think it would probably be better to watch it on DVD in its OAR. Maybe one day I will. The ones I haven't seen from the poll but would definitely rent all are: Solyaris The Bride of Frankenstein The Iron Giant If anyone could write a little snip it about how they liked those, that would simply be lovely.

"The Fifth Element" edged out "Aliens" and "Abyss".....however, it's really too close to call, so all 3 will be discussed at future Film Classes!
Prancer -- great idea. Maybe I should ask people to give us a brief reason why the nominees should be voted for. Then I could quote them in the polls. A lot of these movies intrigue me as well!
