I'm surprised it took them this long to select Ben Hur.

I was thinking the same thing. Why were they putting this off? Democratic government didn't like that Charleton Heston was a Republican and NRA member I guess.

I haven't seen too many of these films, but i'm glad to see Unforgiven, Enter the Dragon and Eraserhead on the list.

Schindler's List is the only one I've seen here. And I've heard of only 4 more. Who picked these movies? Goes to show ya, everyone involved with Congress is old.

Schindlers List is also a good pick to include. I vote Constantine in the next ballot.

Tell me you are both joking!

Most of the films represent an era, style, or subject matter--which is why they are given registry and preservation this way. From some of the silent films listed, to the film shorts (our gang) to the musicals, etc. What they are looking to do each year is add a wide variety of films. Honestly I am a little surprised to see Schindler's List and Unforgiven because they are more recent--(not that they aren't deserving).

But you can always write your local congressman and put in a good word for such film classics as Big Daddy, or maybe Sahara, or even Glitter!

Glitter huh. As far as era, style, and subject matter go--NADA!
