Live MSN Chats! April 2005

All chats begin 6pm Pacific, 7pm Mountain, 8pm Central, 9pm Eastern unless otherwise noted!

Instructions for newbies to the live chats will follow at the bottom of this post.
  • Tues April 5 -- Clerks
  • Sat April 16 -- LOTR EEs (8am on the west coast, 9am mountain, 10am central, and 11am on the east coast. Thats Midnight Saturday night Seoul time and 11pm or midnight Australia time!)
  • Tues April 19 -- Primer -- one hour later than usual (7 pm Pac, 8pm Mountain, etc.)
  • Tues April 26 -- open (possibly Vertigo)
  • Saturday, April the 30th -- Star Wars OT starting at 10am Pacific, 11am Mountain, Noon Central, and 1pm on the east coast
At the end of April a May thread will be started with May's film list and this thread will be closed.

Please reply to this thread with *only* suggestions for future chats. The actual transcripts and such will be posted in their own threads.

(please use your best esc/duck voice from here on out --Tish)
Here are some general instructions on how the chats work for anyone that has not participated or is unsure.
- We all get together on MSN messenger, it can be easily downloaded at MSN.com and is easy to use and install. Its only a few megs. You can also connect if you have Trillian or Gaim. (*OR* you can use MSN Messenger's Web-based chat, which doesn't require an install. --Tish) Just add dvdfilelivechat@hotmail.com to your contact list and when i see that you have added that email address, I will authorize you from my end.

- Everyone usually gets online a few minutes before the chat starts, so that I can add them to one chat window and so we can set up a few options. To make it easier to differentiate between who is talking and what is being said, change your font to an 8 point bold. We also change our screen names to whatever our names are on the boards.

- Then we queue up our DVDs to the same point, usually the 1 second mark into the film, I'll give 30 seconds warning and when I say GO! we all hit play.

- Thats about it. Then the chat commences. After its over I'll take a day or two and edit it down to get rid of any sections that dont really deal with the film being discussed and take out all of the errrs, uhhh, and mmmhmmms. After that the transcript will be posted in the appropriate thread in the Film Discussion forum and everyone can post any more thoughts they had after the live chat finished.

Damn! I missed Clerks. I have a title idea: Maybe on a Friday/Saturday this month, could we watch Terry Gilliam's BRAZIL? It should be coming to me from Netflix in a couple of days, and I'll hold onto it for as long as needed. Thanks!
