Old Movie Identification, Help!

Quote:
I’m trying to remember the name of an old movie I saw as a kid, I believe it might have been a Hammer film I would say it was made in the late ‘60s or early ‘70s...anyway...

The basic plot: A photographer in the past, 19th century maybe, is asked to take a picture of a criminal about to be publicly hanged he lights the guy about to hang with some lamp, I think he invented (this is a bit fuzzy it was the late 70’s when I saw it) in doing so the photographer finds that the lamps light some how captures the “specter of death” at the now hung mans shoulder. The hanging man doesn’t die until the lamp is turn off and the specter is aloud to take him.

This gives the photographer the idea to capture his own specter and tries to do the same for his daughter and her boyfriend in death traps they set up.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
I'm asking for someone else. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
