New PS2 console

Good thing I ordered this 2 weeks ago:

http://ebgames.com/ebx/product/245719.asp

Too bad it doesn't support the hard drive. There was no disclaimer like that when I ordered it.

I recently had to blow the dust of my PS2 and carry it out from the closet... wouldn't have been as heavy if I owned this model... which is something I guess. Woo-Hoo.

Hmmm, I wonder if this version can go more than a year without being refurbed... Seriously, I've had to send my PS2 in twice to be refurbed, as eventually it gets to a point where it refuses to read games, opening it and cleaning helps for a time, but eventually is innefective, and I don't even play it that often! Thankfully they waived the fee last time because I informed them this was the second time. I hope it works again, as it's slowing down already! I've been playing Grand theft Auto 3 again, and it can't load the level fast enough. Nothing like trying to outrun cops while driving on an invisible road.

Seeing as how the only game that really requires the HD is Final Fantasy, it's not a bad deal.

And it includes a network adapter. I've heard people talk about selling their old PS2 for one of these because they planned on getting an NA anyway. I might look into it for that reason.

Plus, that looks pretty sexy compared to the old model.

I just heard through various channels that Sony is working on a Super Memory Card to replace the HDD. Just FYI.

No way that is going to work with Final Fantasy XI.

I was at my local video game store *cough* gamecrazy *cough* and they had 4 of the new PStwo systems and since i am a MVP member 15 bucks a year and i get better trade in deals on games, consoles and accessories and i brought in my older PS2 (the model before they removed the iLink port and put in the RF port for the remote.) that my old network adapter and the older remote with IR sensor pod, i got my new PStwo for 50 bucks . The pics dont do justice to how small this thing is, and since it has a similar cd/dvd disc mounting thing as the psone and other cdrom based top loaders, you can actually have it vertical and not worry about damaging the game when the console is in that position

PS3 is going to be out in a year and will be backwards compatible right? So what's the point of buying another PS2 at this point? Or is there something I don't know...?

How much would Game Stop give me for my PS2? Normally I wouldn't consider going to this version, but my current PS2 is giving me the signs that it plans to crap out in a couple of months.
