The whole Nintendo conference presentation was like them giving me the middle finger... all hope of any depth and maturity on the system, anything to appeal to hardcore gamers, was beat up and pissed on.

On one of my other forums we've nicknamed this the Bathroom Scale Controller.

a few random thoughts....

If I'm a parent and I see two systems, one which is cheaper and encourages physical activity and another that doesn't, little Billy gets a Wii under the tree.

I'm sure there will be many other uses for this. Imagine a skiing game using the Wiimote for poles and this pad for steering.

I think hardcore gamers have enough options and Nintendo is wise to avoid that competitive market. My 360 handles all of my driving, shooter, sports game needs and obviously has superior graphics so these types of games on the Wii won't even get any consideration from me.

I'm not faulting them for going fully kid/casual, I'm just bitching that it does me no good.

Didn't I own one of these for my 8-bit Nintendo? Didn't seem to be very successful there. Hmm...

Since when has Nintendo done anything they thought there customers wanted?? It was a pretty piss poor presentation. I have friends at work asking me what cool stuff the Wii is going to get after I talked about the great 360 games. I said oh yeah the wii is getting a step aerobics pad and a pistol like thing. There response was "yeah I gotta get a 360.".
