My Wii Revolted

Much to my surprise my Wii is broken. All this talk of 360 errors and I have never had trouble, but now, right when I purchase the new Metroid, my Wii craps out.

It says "could not read disc" on MP3... nothing else, just MP3. Customer service line says "yes, it's a known issue, you need to send your Wii in for repair."

Sucks to be me right now, I was an hour into the game.

Sorry to hear about that. Nintendo is like the Fisher Price of electronics so its weird hearing about them breaking. You could do almost anything to the systems and it still would work fine (not like i would try) Still like you i have so far had no problems with my 360 (or my Wii) but i had to send my PS3 20GB system in for repair/exchange after only 2.5 weeks of use.

You and I are in the same weird boat then, since PS3 failures are quite odd this generation as well...

Arg! I'm sitting here with Metroid Prime 3 and I can't freaking play it! The first Wii game since WarioWare I give a shit about... Maybe all the dust from not playing it made it break.

I can't remember, did you buy a system at launch or not? If its a known issue, is it something that Nintendo is going to repair at no cost or are you going to have to pay for the repairs? I seem to remember the Wii have a fairly short warranty period.

Its a known issue?? Are they saying that MP3 is busting other Wiis too? And if its just an issue with the game can't they just issue a patch over the....Nintendo network live... or whatever its called?

Yeah, I'm getting it fixed for free... they're even throwing in overnight shipping, which is nice. Nintendo customer support are good blokes.

And yeah, I would have thought since it was game specific they could fix it with a patch. I have no idea why they can't, but he said they can't, so there you go. If you search for "metroid 3 disc read" or something similar you'll see a good number of people having the same problem.

So it works with other games still, just not Metriod? What a sucky way to introduce a new game. Now I fear that the same will happen to me and I am not even ready to play it yet because I have to finish the others first. (sadly)

Yeah, it's odd it's only the one game. I thought about swapping it at the store but since message boards have a lot of others with the same problem, and the tech guy knew what I was talking about right away, I guess it would be a waste of time.

I might do it for the hell of it though, while I wait for my UPS label.
