You ain't lying there. I took my 360 over to a friends place that was saying how great there wii is and he showed me like 3 of the biggest games he has The Zelda Princess game, Metroid Prime 3 (yeah it actually ran), and Resident evil.

I in turn showed him Bioshock, Ghost Recon : Advanced Warfighter 2, Madden 08, and Guitar Hero 2. He said "but those are coming out for the wii to so I'm good" which I sadly (not really) said "ummm no... not now not ever. Except for Madden 08 except it looks like a 3 year old madden with last years presentation and this years features.". Inevitably he said "I guess I shoulda got a 360". Since he has surround sound and a 42 in hdtv the obvious answer was "Yep".

People buy the wii for the price and very few know exactly what they are getting (or not getting) untill they actually see what they aren't getting.

Really glad to see BioShock is doing so well. It's the best game I've played in a very long time - I was afraid it would become a critical favorite/commercial failure along the lines of Okami or Psychonauts but I'm pleasantly surprised.

The Wii's success remains a mystery to me. I sold mine a couple of months after its release and I haven't regretted it for an instant.

But in that scenario does your friend really need a 360. Would he actually play it. He doesnt sound like a big gamer so does does it really matter for him.

It does because casual gamers are graphics whores just as much as hardcore gamers... Why did it take the PS1 to finally expand the gaming market past a niche? Because of those awesome Final Fantasy videos.

Casual gamers like to run around and shoot people and have it look awesome. The Wii will not perform this function like a 360 or PS3 will.

I think Umaine is right on... the Wii is selling because of hype and the cheap price... "I can go next gen for $250!!!" says the college student... "everyone wants one and I found one!!!" says the casual gamer.

People don't realize what they're getting, I actually had someone try to convince me in a store that the Wii was HD and will look as good as the 360 once it "gets going," whatever that means. Ridiculous.

Fact of the matter is I like amazing graphics, and I also love amazing presentation, AI, sound, depth and open gameplay, all of which are hampered by the Wii's shitty processor, not just high resolutions... BioShock is not possible on the Wii, and that's a fact.

I bought it because sometimes you feel like playing Zelda and Metroid, and now I can, but I don't expect anything else from it.

Also: the controls are vastly overrated. I actually think for most things the sixaxis works better. Try pulling and turning those levers in Metroid, it's very non-responsive and glitchy... in Heavenly sword the sixaxis always works perfectly.

Well none of us NEED any of these consoles. But he is as just as much of a gamer as I am but just went a different way even with my warnings/advice.
