I bought it too. Originally I was going to wait for the Darth Vader one, but after seeing how small the graphic was (not to mention that it would be covered most of the time with the case), I didn't see the point, plus the Daxter game looked more like my type of game. And, this is my first PSP, so I'm going in pretty virgin.
I like it! The screen is amazingly clean and crisp. I'm used to the crossbar on the PS3, so it was no probably getting used to the one on the PSP. It was incredibly easy getting it up on my home network, and watching videos on my PS3 through my PSP was all kinds of cool. As for Daxter, so far it's fairly cool. A bit... simplistic, but it gets the job done. I also bought Final Fantasy 1 (my first time to play it, and thus far I like it), and the two Death Jr games (I got a great deal on them, so I couldn't resist). Now I just need to get the software that converts DVDs to PSP video, and I'll be set. |

I'm tempted because of the component TV connection thing... I don't really like portables because I would rather play on my TV, so the TV out makes me kind of want it...
That said, there's not many games on the PSP I want. Even the ones I would buy, the Final Fantasy games and such, are ports or remakes of games I have elsewhere. |

I'm happy with my chunky PSP i got recently.
The component TV hook-up thing sounds cool but doesn't that defeat the purpose of having a PSPortable? Most films on UMD are not OAR Oh & are they anamorphic? I don't think so. The PS3 connection is, um, dumb! Once you are hooked up, your TV (in my case lamp projection) has to be on, HDMI receiver has to be on, & of course the PS3 which displays a nice USB connection on the screen with 1 option. abort. Maybe the PS3 could get an update to read the software off them UMDs but again thats besides the point of the unit. |

If you don't like playing a portable, why did you buy them in the first place?
That just doesn't make sence. j

I want the slim to go along with my phat. I can't decide on silver or black. I would like to go with silver.
I think the TV out is a big selling point because sometimes I actually want to try and preserve my vision. If I am gaming at home, I might as well put it up on my lcd tv. I think it outputs at 480p and looks pretty good from pics I have seen. I got to fondle the slim a few days ago and it really feels great. You think a reduction in weight is no big deal until you feel it for yourself. It feels like a feather. I may feel compelled to wait until Logitech unveils a hard case for it and I don't really need a bundle either. I think the non bundled versions come out next month, but I have heard that silver is only available in the bundle. (which is kind of uncool) I have just recently gotten back into playing the PSP phat when I am not on the Wii. To me there are at least 8 to 10 awesome games on this system. That sounds like a small number, but I feel that it's about the same for any system. You do well if you can find 10 great games. One more thing, maybe some of you can confirm... I didn't think about it during my fondle session, but I was told that the slim has a "no fingerprints" finish to it. True or false? |

I have the new silver one, and I have yet to see a fingerprint on it. The color and gloss just don't let you see them. Plus, I don't think it would show scratches either. I'm very satisfied with it.

Well that's really nice to hear. I kind of feel bad about owning two, but I am pretty excited about this thing. I will hold off for a little while and hope that the silver remains available.
I had thought I would save the phat for running these cool little homebrew music apps and junk like that, but maybe I should just part with big bertha and get the slim. Decisions... decisions... deci... (anyone tried the tv out?) |

I really got screwed over when I bought the chunky PSP. I paid $200+ tax just for the core.
I went into EB & got the silver slim pack which included a Dexter game + Family Guy + 1GB mem stick. I bought separate, component cables & the total was around $200+ tax. I noticed the battery is 3.5V instead of 5V, so I dunno how the battery is supposed to last longer on this thing. I noticed it charges faster though. I was wrong about what I said about anamorphic widescreen. I hooked it up to my 1080p HDTV & I get 480p out of this thing. Not bad. Same as the Wii top rez. But I am used to always watching DVDs upconverted & I watch a lot of High-def so the PQ is actually better on the PSP screen. Still its a nice option to have. Unfortunately there is no remote option. Whats nice about the PSP screen is it is perfectly calibrated, heck the colors & skin tones look more natural than my HD titles in 1080p!!! The component cable isn't long enough for me to actually play games through the TV. I'd have to sit 3 inches from the 5 foot screen I have to play. No thanks. As soon as I got connected to the net, I checked for an update & there was one. 3.71 or something which adds a few extras. The free game it came with looks quite good on this thing as well. Better than any other portable game system I've tried out. ![]() |

Just spent a good 3+ hours calibrating my SXRD 1080p set to match the exact calibration of the PSP. For owners of any SXRD model HDTV, I'll set-up a thread in the HD Hardware area of the forum so you can give these settings a try if you dare.

What games are you guys playing on your PSP's? I just didn't find anything that really interested me. I thought the games looked great, but I dont really like playing action oriented console type games portable. I prefer puzzle games or things like that on my portable. the DS works well for me. Mario and Zelda. They are the right blend. Not too complicated. Sorry, this turned into a DS push and it is not.

I think Virtua Tennis World Tour and Wipeout Pure are the best PSP games to date. (and they were released very early on) You should check out reviews on them.
Madden 07 is very enjoyable and Syphon Filter Dark Mirror is claimed to be awesome. All of these I have mentioned should be budget priced by now also. The Daxter game is supposed to be pretty good to. Need For Speed Underground Rivals is also pretty fun. Ace Combat X is fun, but difficult. I would almost give you a money back guarantee on Wipeout Pure and Virtual Tennis World Tour. Those two games are awesome!!! I tend to get the most out of my PSP. I'm not gonna spend that kind of money otherwise. I watch movies (not UMD movies) and listen to mp3s in bed, play games in the dark, and carry it around everywhere. |
