I’ve never had a technical issue with my Wii, but if it was a choice between a Wii and a 360, I’d go with the Xbox. The Wii has a few great games, but only a few. That may change come December, but for now there are only a few games worth playing and even fewer worth owning. After you get over the initial fun of Wii Sports, Zelda and Excite Truck, there’s really not much else to play... unless you're into old games, then the Wii's virtual console is for you.

depends how much you are planning to play and what your gaming habits will tend to be. If you just want a quick pick up and play, get the Wii, if you want to be a little more involved in your games, get the 360. I have only bought 1 game for the Wii so far (Mario Party) and its not much different then all the other Mario Partys.

sounds like its just a gamecube that has been updated a bit then, and all the same games just ported over to the Wii... and seems like i would not be playing it much, from the sound of it....
i might wait then..... and just stick with my PSP slim..and the games i have for that.. |

It has very few games a real gamer will care about, just like the Cube. It's worth it to play those few games in my opinion, but it should the be the last of the 3 systems you buy.
I played Zelda for a week, then it sat there for months... then I played WarioWare for a week, then it sat there for months... recently I played Metroid for a week, now my Wii is sitting there... You get the drift. Plus side: Metroid controls are awesome. Zelda controls... meh, I'd rather hit buttons. |

Add my voice to those saying it's not worth it. I haven't had my Wii for very long, but it's pretty much the kind of fadish experience critics say it is. Considering the off-beat controls and lesser graphics there really is no reason to buy ported games for it. Which leaves first party stuff, of which there isn't very much at the moment.
That isn't to say it's not a lot of fun to play some Wii Sports with your buddies over a beer or two. ![]() KM

Yep the wife and I tried to play tennis on it one evening after several drinks apiece.
Hopefully there will be more good games come out for it in the near future.

I sold my Wii last week. I bought it because I got caught up in the hype wave, and I had buyers remorse within days. Months later, it had a coating of dust on it, meanwhile my 360 and PS3 were getting played like mad. Made me kinda sad, seeing it sitting there like some forgotten stepchild. So, I got rid of it. Got damn near what I payed for it, and I used that money to get me a crimson/black DS Lite.
Add my vote to the "It ain't worth it" column. |

I rarely play my Wii games, but there is the potential for fun games to come out. I could say that the ps3 has a lack of games, but there is a great potential there. Outside that, the criticisms being brought by others are valid, and if you save a bit more, buying a ps3 or 360 can also be your gateway into HD movies as well as the nexgen gaming world. Moogle said it best when he indicted the Wii for not being a real nexgen console.

And that there isn't a real choice either. The 360 wins easily with the amout of very good game compared to that other system and even the cross platform titles are better on the 360. Then theres all that xbox live has. Its really a no brainer unfortunatelt there are people with out...... a 360.

Hopefully, someone will figure out 1:1 interactivity with the Wiimote, so then the console will be worth a bit more. Hey, at least there's Super Mario Galaxy coming up in a month or so. Then it'll get some use... until Animal Crossing comes out... oh, whenever Nintendo feels like it even thought they've been touting that game since this thing was called Revolution I believe.

I also believe that the 360 name extends to the global aspect of getting your console repaired, your calls go alllll the way around the world to the call centers! Anyone? Anyone?

Oh wow... reading this makes me question whether buying a wii is a good idea at all. :|

I will defend the wii a little bit here. It is definitely NOT for someone who likes gaming. If you like to sit and play a FPS or RPG for an hour or so and maybe some multi player stuff the wii is not for you. However if you like having some friends over and having a few beers. Through in Wii sports and let the good time roll. Theres nothing on the 360 other than Guitar Hero that could be considered a party game. Of course after a few drinks Guitar Hero becomes incredibly difficult. But having a little Wii tennis or bowling tourney with some friends, thats some good times. Could be worth it to have a Wii and a 360.

But yeah, I do agree with you that the Wii (or at least Wii sports) shines in the fun-for-a-little-while-with-the-buddies kinda gameplay. Much more so than either the 360 or the PS3. KM

I agree too, unfortunately all my old gaming friends have moved on and don't really play games anymore... so, that leaves me with a little white dust collector.
If the new Metroid or Zelda were more than complete rehashes of their last few identical games I might be more enthused, but... unfortunately that's what they are. I'm just bummed on the Wii in general. I'll probably re-buy it down the road someday, but I'm selling it while it's worth something. |

I tried wii last week for the first time. I have to say, I was underwhelmed.
But I did do one thing. I figured out the breakdown of winning at Wii Sports. It is: 25% Luck. 25% Skill. 50% Ability to play for more than 30 minutes without getting bored out of your mind. And yes, I was playing with a friend. The controls were fun, but shallow as they were inaccurate and it seemed more gimmicky and less like I was actually controlling the game. "OOOH REBEL ASSAULT WITH MOTION DETECTING CONTROLLERS!!!" Disappointment overall. Though Wii is still a better buy over PS3 at this moment due to the latter being overpriced and undergamed; at least with the Wii you'll get a few truly unique games you won't get anywhere else. In short: go with 360. (Ha! would I recommend anything else?!)
