PS3 having trouble with my PS3

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my PS3. Two problems really....

My controller's L2 button is stuck down. The button feel is ok, but in-game it is stuck down. I had to buy another one.

I can not get the standard component video hook-ups to work. I'm using the HDMI and it's working great, but I have gone through two "official" Sony component cables and neither worked.

Has anyone else had these problems? Can I bring it somewhere (GameStop) to test?

Thanks!

You have to set the PS3 to recognize an analog signal before unhooking the HDMI and trying the component cables. Once you set it to a digital signal it will not recognize analog ones.

As for the controller I have no idea, sounds like a weird factory mess-up where the controller's pressure switch or whatever is off. I would buy a new one, then return the one you got with the system in the new one's package.

I believe you can set them also by hanging onto the power on button. Which will configure the system to the hook-up. Not 100% sure but i think it works that way

I too haven't heard of that before. I would do what MooglePorn said and buy a new one and exchange the contoller back in for a refund after the switch.

My first 20GB PS3 which i had to send in for a fix/replacement (didn't power on at all. Just died after 2.5 weeks) wouldn't read my controller PS button. Whether or not it was a controller issue or a system issue was never found out.

Yeah, I haven't had any issues at all, but I agree with Moogle's assessment here.

To switch from analog to to digital or vice versa you need to reset your video settings.

Hook your cables up you want to use ad power it on. With PS3 turned off, press and hold the power button until you see the light blink a few times. After you let go it will turn off. Turn it back on and it will recognize your cables.

Thanks Guys! I unhooked the HDMI; changed my video settings; hooked up the component video; rebooted; and it worked! Who knew!
