PS3 Hates The Earth!

How about that title!

PS3 Sucks Up Five Times as Much Energy as a Fridge, Ten Times as Much as a Wii

Quote:
Compared to basically every other appliance you have plugged in at home, the Playstation 3 sucks up more juice. That's according to a new study by Australian consumer agency Choice, which found that when a PS3 is running, it sucks up five times more energy than a refrigerator. If you leave it on all the time for something like Folding@Home, you're looking at an energy cost of nearly $250 a year.

The Xbox 360 isn't all that much better, using 23.57kWh per week when idling compared to the PS3's 31.74kWh. The Wii, on the other hand, is downright dainty in comparison, using only 2.97kWh per week when idling, less than 10% of the energy used by the PS3.

It's all a good lesson to simply turn off your console, whatever it may be, when you aren't using it. I'm not one to disparage the good work done by Folding@Home, but if you leave your console cranking away on it all the time you'll spend enough to go out and buy a Wii by the time a year is up.

Nintendo Hates the Earth More!

I remember this article from Greenpeace last year. Every company is evil some way or another

Awesomeness does require a lot of energy.

LOL,

Is $250 a year really a lot of energy?

Maybe I am just a greedy, non tree hugging bastard, but I honestly could care less how much energy it guzzles.

Yeah, That's why I power mine 24/7 with an inverter plugged into my SUV.

Sometimes I like to play my PS3 in the backyard and I don't have an extension cord, so this is easier.

Do you use spotted owls to fuel your SUV?

Nah. I used to hunt them for sport, but now they are to hard to find.

My daily driver is converted to run biodiesel that I make from the rendered remains of hippies I pick up at bad music festivals and campgrounds along Highway 1.

Really? That sounds nice. I'll have to recommend that to the slaves that wipe for me.

This reminds me of the opening of Coming To America... "would you like me to wash the royal penis?"

We need more slavery in America.

I'm declaring myself ruler of my lands.

And my royal penis needs a good washing from a skilled crafts person that's trained for just royal penis cleaning and nothing else. You can't get that level of artistry without some kind of slavery system.

Excellent idea.

Who's going to build my castle and monument? A proper one should be built over a few generations of slaves entirely devoted to the project. Their fathers shall teach them the specific skills, and they need know nothing more. In this manner their craftsmanship will be so specific to the project, they will not exist outside of it.

This isn't the sort of thing you look up in the Yellowpages. This is why our society is lacking in Great Monuments! Where are our great pyramids? Grand libraries? Works of art so colossal they can be seen from space?!

Had a 4 hour game of GTA-4 going on the PS3. During that time 2 of my light bulbs kicked the bucket. You know those expense ones which are supposed to last a year. Well thank god I can still use the computer.

Have 3 back-up generators going. Shhh

Good thread title Pirate.
