PS3 Now EA's Single Biggest Bread-Winner

What a difference a year makes. This time last year, sales of PS3 games accounted for only $13 million of EA's total net revenue. But this time this year? PS3 games account for $139 million in sales...

Yup... cool stuff.

I think at the end of the day the Playstation still means gaming to a lot of casual gamers (the GTA and Final Fantasy type, not the Wii type). As the price of the machine gets lower, that will become more and more obvious.

I still argue that the 360 and xbox in general have been geared towards the FPS crowd almost exclusively. It is one reason why I have never gotten the console. They don't have interesting games to me like the ps3 or even wii does.

I wouldn't say FPS specifically... but what the Xbox and now the 360 are is basically PC gaming without a gaming PC. Those two machines are a replacement for a gaming PC, really. That's the audience they have... they want more, but who knows...

Well, if you look at the biggest blockbusters for the 360, and you took the top 5, you would likely get all FPS games.

Yes but you'll also see they are probably the best 5 games on any of the consoles, sports or not.

I know EAs getting alot of my money this month. Tiger Woods and NHL 09 for me. On the 360. Skipping Madden this year. Looks like they toyed with it to much and screwed it up.

If you like FPS games, then yes. If not, then it really isn't applicable if you aren't a fan.

IMO Gears of War and Call of Duty 4 are the best games of this generation thus far. They are incredibly immersive and have fantastic gameplay elements. Gears of War's cover system is particularly innovative, none of the other games involving cover have ever made anything as extensive and usable.

Well popular vote and game awards across the board say they are the best. Whether you like the games or not.

FPS is a rather broad term as well, like "RPG"...

Bioshock is not Halo, and Halo is not Portal. None of them are twitchy like Doom.

Point: I can't see how anyone can dismiss them altogether. Even my girlfriend beat Portal.

The 360 does have a lot of FPS games on it, just like the PC does. It also has RTS and American RPGs... it's a PC, only in console form.

I'd go with GTA 4 for either system. That game has it all & will be a classic down the road for sure.

Which shows that FPS games are popular and that they have a big following. But if you are not good at FPS games, then them being the best is meaningless.

And FPS is a wide genre. But if your main form of action is to shoot up a bunch of Nazis, aliens, zombies, (insert whatever here) as you go through the game, then I would say that they are all pretty similar to me. And the bulk of those types of games are on the 360. If Final Fantasy were exclusive only to the 360, then I might consider having a 360 as a console. But there aren't any exclusive non-FPS titles for the 360 that would lend me to want to buy the console or the game.

Dead Rising
Crackdown
Project Gotham Racing
Command & Conquer 3 (and Red Alert 3)
Splinter Cell 5
Ninja Gaiden 1/2
Mass Effect

And that's just off the top of my head... all exclusive for the 360, none of them FPS (or even shooters, really).

The 360 is a lot more than an FPS machine.

Still have that one. Its def a keeper.

Also Need for Speed: Most Wanted is the best in the NFS series, tons of fun.
