Star Fox Adventures...what are your thoughts?

I picked it up this weekend from Blockbuster and wondered what everyone else was thinking about this game.

I bought this about a week ago and I'm happy with my purchase. No, its not the best thing that Rare has released, but it's darn good and very fun to play. The characters look wonderful (especially the fur, actually living up the hype as far as I'm concerned) and the gameplay is very simplistic and easy to learn. I've only put about 5 hours into the game, but so far the gameplay is very similar to Zelda for the N64 - third person perspective, collecting/buying/using various items, no fancy attack combos, traversing different areas to defeat bosses and collect special items, and so on.

The Arwing stages, short as they be, are fun and a nice little deversion(sp) from walking around all day. These stages play just like the N64 version as well.

All in all, I think that this a great title to help satisfy me until Zelda comes out next year.

On the whole I'm pretty happy with it (I'm 77% done with it right now). I actually think it's more fun that Super Mario Sunshine (which was a good game, but not, you know, fun). The graphics range from pretty good to, occasionally, freaking amazing. The Zelda-style dungeons are a stone cold ripoff, and sometimes they're needlessly frustrating even with Slippy's hints, but every once in a while you come across a gem of a puzzle that makes you not care. The flying stages didn't do much more for me than make me wish Namco's Starfox Armada was out.

Oh. And if Slippy the Toad knows so damn much ("Got yourself stuck again?"), he needs to get off his fat ass, get down on the ground with Fox McCloud, and earn his pay.

Just beat it today and I was pretty happy with the overall game. You guys summed it up well... it's a great game but isn't quite Zelda like it tries to be.

The graphics are postively amazing in this game and like everyone said, it's kind of zelda-like. My 8 year old son really seems to like it and he keeps playing it every day so for him it has been a good buy.

That frog has been asking for it since the SNES days. :rar: I had a buddy who would actually curse back at Slippy's whining in StarFox64. "#&%^ you $#*&-head!!"

I held off on this game because I heard it feels a tad short and there's no desire to really go at it again. So I think I'll rent this one. I saw the demo at Best Buy. Some little girl was playing a level where that female FOX is dodging fireballs while on the back of a dinosaur. That looked pretty cool.

I want to get this game but Ill have to wait for awhile. By than itll probably be $20. lol, at least I hope. I hated that damn Slippy. Does it still sound like a chick. Me and my cousin would always cuss and say different shit about that damn frog. Like in the N64, slippy says "somethings wrong, i dont see anything" my cousin added saying hes looking at his crotch. lol, i dunno, you had to be there. But it was great fun.

I kinda liked the original game where they talked all funky like "blah blah blue blah blah"

I think the game is probably beatable in a one-week rental, even if you're an average gamer and a working stiff. I'm guessing right now that my completion time will be around 20 hours (and that's including two hours where I got stuck in two different places for dumb reasons). The only reason that I haven't finished it by now is that I'm playing Animal Crossing and Fallout at the same time.

After you beat Starfox Adventures there's no real reason I can see to play it again. Once again, thank God for eBay, or I wouldn't have picked it up in the first place.

I rented this over the past weekend and I liked it. I don't feel it has much replay after being beaten once, so I may pick it up when it comes down in price.

Now bring on Metroid...
