Anyone else excited about tony hawk 4!!
I went and reserved my copy for the xbox today. I got a free dvd for reserving it. I have been a loyal tony hawk pro skater fan since the first one on psone. I can't wait to play the minigames they are adding to the game. October 29th can't come any faster.

What kind of dvd did you get. Oh well i too am looking forward to the game as well. I have bought the past 3 games and THPS2 for my GBA. I love the idea of the new mini games. Anyways does anyone know if the XBox version will allow for custom music tracks for the game to be played as well.

I reserved it at Electronics Botique but I think you can also get it at Gamestop, Funcoland, and Bestbuy. You get it for every version not just the xbox one. It contains Making of Tony Hawk's Boom Boom HuckJam, behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with Tony Hawk and all these athletes from Skateboarding, BMX and Moto-X on the Boom Boom HuckJam action sports and music tour. It is not that bad of a dvd. Some of it intended to be promotion though.

I am going to get this game, dont know wich version though... if the ps2 one will play online and the xbox wont, ill go with the xbox, if the xbox one will I will def get that vers since the graphics are almost always superior on the box.... Soundtrack is lookin pretty weak IMO, only like 3 bands on there I actually like... So far the best soundtrack that they put out was Shaun Palmers Pro Snowboarder, that has some bitchin tunes on it

Just for the record, the PS2 version is online. It is the only one with online play. How big a factor that is, is up to you. Another factor to consider, THPS was designed around the PS controller. In my experience, neither the XBOX nor GC controllers feel as right as the PS does for TH games. That's just a personal preference, however.

The biggest factor for me is the Xbox's custom soundtrack feature. I'd rather have that than online play any day. Also, my favorite THPS controller is the Xbox controller, before that, the DC controller (which is quite similar)... but then again, I never played the PSX/PS2 versions that much.

I think favorite controller opions are extremlely biased towrad whichever controller one unsed first for TH.
Personally, I love the Microsoft Sidewinder game pad for TH, but then I learned on that one.

The Tony hawk series has gone downhill ever since THPS 2. The whole addition of the revert move only made it way easier to rack up killer scores. Now they are making a no time limit do whatever you want type career mode. This is going to be like GTA 3's open ended gameplay style, but without the fun and the killing and chases.

All hail the Hawk!
THPS4 is going to be the Second Coming of the Hawk.
THPS3 was OK, but, for me, it was lacking in a bunch of areas: - I missed the gap checklist! THPS2 wasn't done till EVERY SINGLE ONE of those gaps were done. Period. Wasn't there in THPS3, but now it's back in 4 and even more readily accessible (via the pause screen, so I hear).- Goals. THPS2 had the same goals for every skater, but the money was plentiful so it was fun trying to get all of the bills. THPS3, no money, goals change slightly depending on skater type, but it felt really repeditive quicker because there was less to do. - Special moves. This I never got in THPS3. You could use ANY special move you wanted to, at any time. All you had to do was pause the game and pick a new one. The only thing you really earned were spots to assign more moves, but it didn't really matter as the only thing you lost by pausing and picking a new move was the replay. I never used replay, so who cares? Dunno how THPS4 is going to handle that, but I hope they make a change back to the THPS2 style of earning your specials. - And finally: Free skate + Career mode in THPS4?! I still play THPS3 from time to time, but the career mode and it's 2 min limit (as well as session skating) bores me, so I skate predominantly free skate now (or online play from time to time). THPS4 is going to have career mode BE free skate, with the timer only appearing when you talk to a ped and get a goal. This is a GODSEND and is the #1 reason I'm excited about THPS4. And as an aside, I have a PS2 and my brother has an XBOX. I love the PS2 control scheme for Tony Hawk, but have a problem with the XBOX controls. I never use the shoulder buttons to spin in the air, I use the D-pad. (And yes, I tried adopting it, but it ain't gonna happen.) Enter THPS3 and the revert. PS2 uses a different button for revert than it does for spin. XBOX doesn't. Result? Me landing sideways or ending my combo prematurely. Does anyone else have this problem switching between versions? Of course, I play the PS2 more often so I'm biased in that direction, but if the XBOX version can have you configure the controller buttons, this will be an non-issue. The only downside is the new Tony Hawk is coming out at the exact same time as the new GTA AGAIN! I'm going to need to manage my time better! Just my 2 cents on the topic. ;^) m13b P.S. Damn, I almost forgot. They put Maiden on the soundtrack?! This is the best news since Priest's Turbolover on GT3. ![]() |

As a still relativly novice gamer, and one interested in Tony Hawk, do you guys REALLY think 4 will be much better than 3? I ask because I (we) can now get TH:PS3 so damn cheap ($23.99 in Canada) compared to $70-something (in Canada) for part 4.
Should i just get part 3, or go for the "gold" in part 4? Thanks. |

from Planet Tony Hawk : An Activision press release revealed that THPS 4 has gone gold and will be shipping on the 23rd of October, a week earlier than originally reported. This should put the game in stores across the US on the 24th. m13b |

Hi Marq,
Actually, if you don't mind the graphics difference, I'd go for THPS2. Dirt cheap, more replay value than 3, "School II" (IMO, best level of all THPS levels thus far, tho I have my fingers crossed for "Campus" in THPS4)... If you like it, then you can upgrade to 4 once the price drops a little. THPS2 will keep you plenty busy while you wait. ![]() Actually, if you have an XBox and get THPS2x, the only thing you'll be missing from 3 is the revert, and since you've never used it, you'll never miss it! ![]() m13b |

Yeah, go for 2 or 3 and you can still have a blast and learn how to play, Then, later, you can get 4.

They are both at the same price as they both are Greatest Hits titles for PS and PS2. I personally liked THPS2 better as i thought the level design was alot better then THPS3. But if you have an XBox get the THPS2X version just to play the old classic levels and i think it was 5 brand new levels as well. I have the first 2 on Dreamcast and THPS3 on GameCube. But will be getting THPS4 for the XBox as the s-controller reminds me of my Dreamcast controller. One of my Favs.
