Need for Speed 2 or Burnout 2???
I've read all of the various reviews that I've seen on both games, but I'm still having problems making a decision. I'm only getting one of them, and I haven't seen either one at the video store to rent yet. Opinions? I've only got a PS2, so impressions for other platforms don't count.

This one's a tough call. I'm still leaning towards the NFS title because I've been a longtime fan of this series (started with #3 on the PSX; still my favourite) and it received a solid score from IGN (coincidentally the same score assigned to Burnout 2).
The first Burnout didn't take long to reach the clearance bins, and people may have the same perception with the followup. I think it's a safe bet that Burnout 2 will be discounted way before NFS:HS2 does.

I just rented Burnout 2 and let me say that it kicks the ass. The new crash mode is badass. Graphics are great. Crashes are improved. More cars.
You owe yourself a rent. Puts the first one to shame. Will rent NFS later this week and will give my thoughts.

Well my friend rented NFSHP2 for XBox. The speed doesn't seem to be there in the game. Only if you do the driver's seat viw which is great. The modes are awesome and addicting and have a nice variety. I would give it a rent first but so far i'm impressed.

Please do not use NFS2:HP2 on XBOX as any sort of judge of NFS:HP2 for the PS2. The XBOX and GC versions are mere shadows of the excellent PS2 version.

Yeah, I read that the NFS2 Xbox and GC versions were inferior to the PS2 version - including graphically which, I'll admit, is surprising. So far, the main selling points for both games are: Burnout 2: best crashes, NFS2: more jumps (I love it when cars go airborn - in videogames that is). At least, that's the impression I've got after reading the reviews.

Though I must admit, EA has outdone themselves. They managed to create an inferior (and completely different) port of their own game, using their own dev studio, on easier to program hardware, than a hired outside developer, on harder to program hardware. EA never ceases to amaze these days ![]() P.S. -- For reference, Blackbox developed the PS2 version, while EA Seattle developed the XBOX and GC versions.
