Not sure, but I would guess maybe 2004/2005? If, however, you mean Unreal 2, then I am fairly certain it is mid-November.

hehe, yeah Unreal 2 is coming out fairly soon. Unreal Tournament 2003 is already out, and let me say it ROCKS.

Gamefaqs.com is listing the date as 1/22/03, for unreal II, anyway For the most part, I've found that the dates listed here are right on.

I don't get it. I downloaded the demo and played for about an hour was completely unimpressed. The graphics were decent, it ran smoothly, but I couldn't see any improvement on any other FPS. Even the weapons seemed fairly unoriginal (with the exception of the lock-on rocket launcher). To me, it appeared like a suped-up Quake III Arena.

What am I missing? What is so appealing about this game? I've heard many people talking about its "cool-factor" but I can't figure it out.

IMHO, it doesn't hold a candle to America's Army. However, I'd love someone to straighten me out. Maybe I'm just missing something.

Well, I'm just a sucker for good graphics and solid maps in an FPS. On my PC, UT2003 looks so good. I was completely taken back by the crispness and colors of the maps. Not to mention how huge the maps are. I mean, play Face 3 and look how big that friggin map is. Comon.

There are also smaller features that make me think it's pretty cool. Like when you die, your corpse physics are really realistic. If you put on the mutator "Low Gravity Corpses" or something of the like, you bounce off about every object, and your limbs move around pretty strangely. That's just cool.

I also like the modes (including the new Double Domination and that ball game). Theres nothing I love more than Capture The Flag with a shitload of really tough bots. I could play forever.

I guess really great graphics, huge maps, new modes, nice weapons, and cool physics tidbits make a good FPS to me. If you can say different, oh well.

Yeah I would have to agree that Bombing Runs are great

It's about having a good ol' fraggin' time; nothing more, nothing less. UT2K3 doesn't really add much to the FPS genre (although the Bombing Run matches are pretty cool), and it's probably a cosmetic makeover more than anything else, but Epic Games did one heck of a job with the overhaul. It's about custom mods using the new engine, custom maps, etc. It was never intended to be as methodical or strategy-oriented as AA.
