My Fav game is the Legend of Zelda. that is the 1st one made on the NES. its the game that really got me into gaming and the first game i ever beat (pretty good considering i was 4 years old and didnt have a strategy guide cuz i couldnt read lol). luckily not much reading was required for that game all i really needed to know were numbers for buying stuff.
damn i love that game. i must have spent hrs bombing every wall i could find and burning any bush i could to look for secret stairways. i still play it every now and then. in fact i played it all the way through about 2 weeks ago in about 2 days while in school ![]()

The Secret of Monkey Island (PC). It's entertaining, humorous, and gets better every time you play it. After that I'd have to vote for Ultima 7 (PC). MYST (PC) and The 7th Guest (PC, CDI) are up there as well. If you meant console games only, I'd go with Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES) and Night Driver (2600) in terms of older console games. Unfortunately, I disliked the direction the Mario and Zelda series went upon going 3D. Out of the "next-gen" games, my favorites are Halo (XBOX) and Azurik: Rise of Perathia (XBOX). Grandia II (PS2, Dreamcast) and the Shenmue series (XBOX, Dreamcast) are also excellent. Of course, Dragon's Lair (Arcade, nearly every home gaming device made thus far) should also get a mention.

Final Fantasy 6 (3 on the SNES) is the game that got me into gaming, and is still one I look back on with great fondness. Probably my favorite game of all time.
I also played a hell of a lot of Goldeneye when it came out, and me and my friends worshipped that game for a long LONG time. The new Grand Theft Auto games are just damn excellent. All these are probably tied ![]() |

As for Quake vs. Goldeneye, I don't play PC games and have never played Quake, so I can't comment. IMO though, nothing beats a bunch of buds in the same room playing a game and talking shit. On-line gaming will never beat that. GTA 1 and 2 I have never played. I actually was tempted to get GTA1 for like $7.99 after I played GTA3, but everyone said it sucked so I passed. |

So we're picking favorites and not what we consider the best? Hmm, Final Fantasy 6 (3), Goldeneye, and Super Smash Brothers (N64). I had more fun with those three games than any others I can remember.

Starflight..... I still have fond memories of this space exploration game. Way way ahead of its time and you had to play off backup disks because if you lost the game, You litteraly LOST THE GAME.
I remember playing this game with my best friend Antoni, we had the cluebook and it would take us 8 hours to complete. No game has yet to come close to this late 80's classic :sigh: |

For console gaming it's more or less a toss-up between Life Force, Pro Wrestling, Punch Out and Castlevania - all for the NES.
On the PC it would have to be Street Rod. I loved the customizations that could be made and the racing was great too. I also loved Syndicate. The first ulta-violence game I played, great stuff. Other great ones are Monkey Island 1 and 2 as well as Day of the Tentacle. A special mention goes to Hack just because it was such a good fix when I was going through MUD-withdrawals during bouts of ISP downtime. Most of the stuff on my best-of list are fairly old. I just haven't been able to recapture the early gaming bliss of the NES days or the pseudo-early PC gaming days on any platform since. Too bad. KM |

Lunar 1 and 2 for single player on the Sega CD... my god these were the best RPGs ever, and so very very missed...
As for Multi... Warcraft 2... Starcraft... unreal Tournament... Duke Nukem 3d... We'd drag all our computers to my friends and setup in his basement and smack talk as we pounded each other... fun stuff! Let me add SoulBlade for PSX as well, we played the hell out of it...

2 series are STILL my all-time favorites
Castlevania and Megaman I still own all my original NES cartridges of both series. I've always liked arcade style side-scrollers & both of these series have gotten the most play by me than any other game in 'ol Riddler's gaming history.

I would have to say my favorite game of all time is Final Fantasy 7 then Crono Trigger in second place. I have great memories from both these games.

i really wish that i could pick a clear-cut winner, but that just isn't going to happen. so here instead is my top 5:
1. legend of zelda, original 2. final fantasy ? (not sure which #, but cover was green) 3. super mario kart (best party game, in my opinion. goldeneye a close second) 4. NBA jam (i have 273 wins and no losses, can you say addict?) 5. grand theft auto: vice city
