I got City of Heroes on Friday and I'm loving it. These aren't usually my kind of game, especially after the sour taste left in my mouth by Star Wars: Galaxies, but this one is much better, imo.

I also picked up a game called Dr Muto for the Xbox from the bargain bin at Fry's, and it's not too bad either. It's not great by any means, but I believe that it's worth the $12 that I paid for it.

I ordered Devil May Cry 2 and Final Fantasy Origins for $5 each at BestBuy.com. Hopefully they don't go on backorder, Best Buy style.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (US) - Does anyone else have problems with the intro sound keep dropping out for a second intermittently?

Chronicles of Riddick (US)

Psi-Ops (US pre-order)

CoR and P-O aren't due in the UK for at least a couple of months and I've paid less than the new price for them, including shipping, than when they do come out here.

I'm glad I modded my Xbox now.

I picked up The Chronicles of Riddick yesterday around 3:00 p.m. and beat it today at 4:00 a.m. Although short it's an awesome game. I still can't imagine any game looking better than TCoR. It's worth buying just for the eye candy.

F-Zero GX - $20
Mario Kart Advance - $25

How about that? $25 for a SNES title and $20 for a GC title. Sony better hurry it's ass up with that PSP, godammit.

Well seriously do you think games on the PSP are going to be any cheaper with it's higher development cost? Of course since Mario Kart Advance is a totally new game with different features and it does have the whole orginal Mario Kart SNES as an unlockable I think it is more then worth the money, I spent many hours on it, enjoy!

It's not that they'll be any more or less expensive. Matter of fact, as of now, I have absolutely zero interest in a PSP. BUT - it will introduce competition, and will absolutely, positively reduce prices across the board.

The prices for GBA games are outrageous. I could give a shit about development costs... blah blah blah. I don't buy for one minute that Nintendo hasn't reaped it's bounty off a silly Mario Kart Advance cartridge. Yet, it's still priced at $30. Fuck that noise. Shennanigans and bullshit.

When F-Zero is $20, and MK:A is $25 used, there's a problem.

It's my fuckin' problem, 'cause I want the stupid cartridge. The only way I can get both the cartridge and a cheaper price is to pray for competition. You'll see some GBA games hit $10 within 6 months.

Where are the Players Choice games for the GBA? OHhhh, that's right, the Players can go fuck themselves - there's no competition! They can pay $30 for a game all day long, 'cause they're not gonna suddenly say, "Hey, the PSP is only $20 per game!" or "The nGage is BOGO!"

Nintendo has cornered the market, and is reaping the rewards of a successful monopoly. I don't blame them, but I'm not happy with the situation, either.

Sorry man, I did not know the topic was so near and dear to you, The price is still 29.99 cause the game sells, just like Zelda WW is still $50, Halo was $50 for almost 3 years, and other Mario GBA games that still sell on a constant pace. It's not just the handheld market. It's not a fair comparsion to compare F-Zero (what 250,000 sold in North America) vs. Mario Kart Advance (1-2 million sold).

Near and dear? Well, I guess. All I've been asking for for a couple years, now, is a little competition. Again, where's the Player's Choice for the GBA? I'll tell you: it doesn't exist because there's no need to lure players. Player's Choice exists to lure console buyers, and people who are thinking of buying a portable are either going to buy a GBA or they're not buying a portable.

Did I get hosed? Probably. I don't pay attention to sales or discounts as much as I should. I see what I want in a store window, and I buy the thing. I just bought a PS2 (used $120), DDR Max2 ($40) and an Ignition pad ($100) because I want to play DDR. Only later did I findd out you can get Ignition pads for much less. Am I a schmuck? Whatever. I'm not losing sleep.

Gah. I've botched this thread. I'd like to keep this as on-track as possible, so if you'd like to continue, feel free to start another thread.
