A lot of magazines and other news sources are suddenly very interested in video games now that the holiday season is upon us. Most of the info they give out is wrong, bias, or all around stupid. I heard one guy on the KDKA news up here talking about how Nintendo has dominated the market for years but has some "new competition" this year... ?????
Anyway, this is your thread to discuss holiday silliness in all it's forms, from horrible shopping experiances to your Chistmas list. This can be from any year, any time. To start off, I submit Entertainment Weekly's "Top ten games for Christmas" list: 1. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (A good choice) 2. Eternal Darkness (Good pick, but arguably top ten) 3. Warcraft 3 (Dunno, don't play PC) 4. Splinter Cell (Hells yeah) 5. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (With the movie, I guess) 6. Spider-Man (No way in hell) 7. Madden 2003 (I guess, not my thing) 8. Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2 (Another movie one, hmmm) 9. Medal of Honor: Front Line (Nope, not top ten) 10. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 (Tired, but damn good) All in all I guess that list is OK, but where the hell is Metroid?? And Spider-Man? Come on! They obviously think Popular Movie =Popular Game. |

that is starwars Jedi Knight outcast right, not dark forces 2 or anything, their list is missing a lot i think, its like they tried to include every platform, which is common

Ah, the joy of video games on a Christmas list and the parents who shop for them. Every year I have to try and help out parents because little Jimmy said that he wants that one game that is on every system. Jimmy, of course, did not tell Mom that he wanted it on Xbox, not on PS2 or Gamecube. The most recent example of this is Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance (which I would consider putting on that list). Now, should parents know what system their own children have? Depends. Sure they may have bought it for them, but are their lives centered around it for several hours at a time? Of course not. And then there are the relatives who have no idea what system their grandchild/nephew/niece has, but again its on the list so they have to pick it up. I guess it kind of boils down to being specific for the parents' sake, and us poor retail schmucks would appreciate it too
.And as far as that list is concerned, I agree with GTA: VC, Splinter Cell, and Madden. Throw out the rest and replace them with what games are actually hot for Christmas. As MooglePorn stated, where is Metroid Prime or Fusion? What about Xbox Live? Any Xbox Live compatible game is hot in my store right now, especially Unreal Championship. I think that EW should have done a little more research with theirlist before that put this out for people to read, especially with parents with gamers on their shpoping lists. My two cents at least...
