Question Can a Game Ever be a 10?

Do you agree with giving a game an overall score of a 10? Is any game perfect? Does a 10 mean perfect? EGM has been giving away way too many 10's to suit my tastes lately, and I was wondering what your thoughts were. Metroid is a damn fine game, but the control definately stops it from being a 10 for me... maybe 9.0 or 9.5... but EGM basically said "it has control problems, but still a 10!"... makes no sense to me, a 10 should have no problems... right?

Yes I would think so. Otherwise then the magic number 10 would otherwise be completely unobtainable. We have to have something set the benchmark for scoring. Otherwise we're going to say, nothing should ever be a 10, the best will probably get 9.7, then you argue, should a gamer ever be a 9.7.

However...I do believe that 10's are handed out too much.
