Xbox Return to Castle Wolfenstein - Console Details

From Gamespy

Quote:
Details on the upcoming Return To Castle Wolfenstein games for the Xbox and PlayStation 2 have, for the most part, been sketchy at best, but this morning all that has changed. First and foremost, both versions of the game will have players taking on the role of B.J. Blazkowicz, an Army Ranger recruited into the Office of Secret Actions (OSA), as he battles to uncover Himmler's obsession with the living dead and genetic mutations. The game will have players battling their way through the Third Reich while making work of various super-soldiers and zombies. Both the Xbox version (Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War) and the PlayStation 2 version (Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Operation Resurrection) start players off in Egypt where they find out the first details on Heinrich Himmler plans.

Branching off, the Xbox version of the game will be host to a split-screen co-op mode in which B.J. Blazkowicz and “Agent One” battle though the game. The Xbox version is being developed by Nerve Software, and will also make use of Xbox Live and system link, with modes of play including Elimination and Objective mode. The Xbox version will support new monsters, weapons and Dolby 5.1 audio.

Meanwhile, the PlayStation 2 version is being made with the Quake III Arena engine, and will including an all-new campaign with Agent One. The game also has unique weapons, items and bonuses. The PlayStation 2 version is being developed by Raster Productions.
Looks like the Xbox version is where it's at. Co-Op, Live!, System Link, 5.1.....

Activision's Return To Castle Wolfenstein website has also provided links to the photo gallery and movies for both console games, in addition to offering a sneak peek at the upcoming RTCW: Enemy Territory, a standalone sequel to the original on the PC. If anyone's interested in the PC version of the GOTY edition, I believe it's on sale at Media Play this week for $19.99 and $24.99 at Best Buy(?) or Circuit City(?).

What I'd like to see now is for this to be the first game to utilize Live for something other than DM and CTF variations. I think the idea of playing the co-op story with a buddy on Live sounds amazing!!!

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon is mostly co-op strategy and tactical planning, and it's been available for quite a while now, but RTCW sounds even cooler since it sounds like you will be able to play throughout the entire game, instead of just picking missions like in Ghost Recon.
