PC Sim City 4 ?

Anyone have this game? It looks great, but I've heard it's been buggy...

I've also heard it eats up a system in terms of horsepower.

I have it...it's a really good game. I haven't really seen any major bugs, though I have had it crash every now and again, other than that seems very stable. The game is DEFINATELY a resource hog...I have a pretty damn good system and on my larger cities it can start to chop a bit when scrolling around, but not so bad that it makes me want to stop playing. The game is very addictive and VERY deep...there is so much going on with this game below the surface it's amazing. If you liked any of the other SIM games and have the system to handle it, I'd say get, though you might want to the strategy guide for it as well, the manual is pretty poor and leaves out a lot of useful information that the guide gives ya.

Man, I hate this trend. It always makes me mad when the "strategy" guide comes out the same day as the game. Most of the time, these guides are just grandiose manuals. :rar:

Hmm. It crashes occasionally yet you call it stable? How often do other games crash your system? What OS are you running?

See, that is the tred I hate. Early releases. They already missed the Christmas release date, so why not take another month or two and fix the thing? I wouldn't have noticed.

I guess I'll do what I usually do when a new release comes out - wait for the patch.

:rar: So, I buy a game for $50 and it doesn't work right. Okay, I have the game and it plays okay despite the glitches. I play. The patch comes out. I install it. Prior save-games don't work, now.

I just spent $50 on a beta. With no real garauntee the developers will fix it!! coucivilization3gh!

I'm on WinXP....and when I say it crashed every now and again that probably sounds like more than it is...I've had the game since the day it was released and in that time period it has crashed like, twice. Of course, this could just be my system as I've had other game intermittenly crash like this as well, not a lot mind you, but enough that it makes it hard to tell if it's system or game. But yeah, compared to some games that come out nowadays two crashes in this time span is not too bad...granted I'd prefer no crashes, but it's always hard to say whether or not it's just my system or the game.

I'm running on XP as well and luckily I haven't experianced any crashes. Now even though I have a P4 2.4ghz with 512mbs of ram and an nVidia Geforce 4 video card, the game REALLY slows down once you get a decent sized city built. Not just scrolling around but the game itself. I generally run the game on it's fastest setting (controlled by the three arrows on the bottom left corner) I noticed that once the city gets really big, even though it's on it's fastest setting, the entire game will still slow down. The buildings get built at a slower pace, traffic moves slower...everything.
It kinda sucks but still...it's a great game. SIGNIFICANTLY harder then Simcity 3000. I still haven't been able to build skyscrapers and I've been playing it since the day it came out.
