Gods I wish that I could join in with the rest of the world in breathlessly anticipating this, but... I just can't. Everyone seems so excited and jazzed, and I can empathize, but for me Zelda has never been a game I liked, and it probably won't ever. Some people cut their teeth on Zelda, and some people on Bards Tale. I'm one of the later.
But, it kinda bums me out to be the lone guy standing around going "What's the big deal?" >_< |

When the original Zelda came here in the US to the first Nintendo, I gave it a whirl. But, after playing Bards Tale, Ultima, and Wizardry, it didn't do anything for me. Granted, they are entirely different types of fantasy games, but by then it was too late to change my mindset.
I don't know, I might pick this up when the price drops. Ya never know... |

when the first Zelda came to the original nintendo!!!!!!!!! that compared to the recent Zelda games is quite different! very different! do u have a N64? if so id say give Zelda a rental(if anyone still carries it). if not find it used at a gaming store. u can probably get it for $15-$20 used.

I had a N64, but I sold it so get a few Dreamcast games. I felt it was a good deal.
As for the original Zelda versus this one, I'm quite sure that you are correct, but I think that having a history with the series helps one to appreciate the new entries, while a lack of a past doesn't help much. When I see the screens for the new Zelda I'm almost... I dont' want to say repulsed, but dang near. It just doesn't appeal to me at all. But, if you're a fan of the series, you would see it quite differently. I don't know, we'll. I have nothing against the title at all, and I hope that everyone loves it as much as they expect they will. |

well thats not entirely true.
i loved the first Zelda as a kid when i was like 5 or 6...maybe younger. then part 2 came out and i thought it sucked. after this i didnt play really any video games till Playstation came out. i didnt buy the SNES so i am still yet to play the Zelda on that system. and i kinda came back to Zelda when N64 came out. so you really dont need to be a fan of the series. plus the zelda series is kinda like the FF series in the way that they arent really linked in story. however its pretty much the same thing with Link, Ganon, Zelda and the Triforce. Shigeru has been quoted saying that the games really arent linked. therefore he can do whatever he wants with the story. its just always been the battle between good and evil. well anyways at the least give it a rental if ya got a GameCube.

Hmm...I can't get either picture to load. If you need a mirror for those pics, let me know cause I can put them on my site.
The only Zelda that I have not finished was Majora's Mask. That game just didn't interest me. Ocarina is far my favorite and I can't wait to play it on the cube. Wind Waker is going to take some getting used to and I can tell you this, if you are a fan of the Zelda series, you are going to love it. Most of the local Targets have the new playable demo of Zelda. I played for like 10 minutes. I wanted to play longer, but I just could not hog the gamecube away from the little kids running around the gaming aisle.

I knew of a site that had a shit load of custom covers for this disc to replace that ugly ass one seen above (although the instructions look ok). Some were really cool and really high-res. If/when I find it I'll post it.

Some of those are really nice covers. Thanks for the link (no pun intended). Now I just have to decide which one to use. |

i dont like that the tiltles are equal i think the new game title should be centered and the other one should be at the bottom, much like Widescreen sometimes is on a DVD
