PC Battlefield 1942 - Road To Rome (+1.3)

Anyone here getting the expansion pack (or already have it)?

Its on sale this week at Best Buy for $14.99!! Im totally picking this up! Anyone heard anything about the pack and if its being released properly or are patches already going to be needed? I saw a few pics and it looks bad ass.

Also, is anyone else here having problems with the 1.3 update? I got it and fuck does it blow. My system kept freezing, even after I got 2 different 1.3. I had to go back to 1.2. and Im hearing of ALOT of people having problems with 1.3 because of all the bugs. Hows everyone here coping?

I'm holding off on the 1.3 patch installation. This limits what servers I can access for the MP game, but I'd rather have a stable system (with the 1.25 patch) and just wait for EA to release the next patch.

BF1942:RTR comes with a 1.25 patch that works well with the 0.2 build of Desert Combat. I want to try the 0.25 build of DC to take advantage of the new RTR maps, but can't because it requires the 1.3 patch installed.

I paid regular price for mine, but it's definitely worth it (an even better deal at $14.99, if you can find any copies in stores this late in the week. It's sold out everywhere here) Of course, you can always ask BB for a rain check.

I've been playing BF1942 for months. A LOT. The only problem I've ever had was some sound issues that were resolved as soon as I loaded the latest drivers for my sound card.

Now, I've installed 1.3. (One of the servers I was trying to connect to required an upgrade.) After downloading the 47MB file (!!!) and playing a quick game to check it out, I was about 1/2 way through a campaign map, and BF just dropped out to Windows.

Nice.

So, I'll be going back to 1.25, asap.

I might be willing to part with my copy. I bought it because a lot of my RTCW clan members kinda peer-pressured me into it. I really liked the demo (Wake Island) until they issued a demo patch right before the game streeted. I dunno what they did, but it was like unpossible to hit anything...and this isn't coming from a Quake 3 railgun perpective either. In close encounters I found it more efficent to switch to the knife...at least it didn't run out of ammo. Instead of being a sniper I used to go engieer, it was actually easier to hit people with the non-scoped weapon.

If it was just a ping issue I would have just gone to another server, but sometimes I was getting pings as low as 20 or 30ms (prob. Phily, NY or DC servers), and I still couldn't hit anything.

I haven't played it in a while, have any of these issues been fixed by recent patches or is it still kinda goofy?

Great theory for a game tho, I still play the SP every once in a while.

I also understand that EA has a piss poor record for supporting games with working patches too, so I'm not terribily surprised at the problems you've had Taxi...dumb software tycoons.

The 1.25 patch comes with the RTR expansion pack; AFAIK, this is the only way to get this patch.

I picked it up two weekends back. Only played the first map thus far. The map is *HUGE*, and from what I've read regarding the other 5, they're equally the same. You'll need some form of mobile transportation to get around because walking from one point to another is tiring on foot. The new weapons and dialogue are welcome additions. It's not bad for $20, but I thought EA could have easily squeezed another 2 maps onto the CD to justify the cost. The one thing that's really needed is a map editor. After completing my viewing of Band Of Brothers this past weekend, I see so much potential for this era that it would be a disservice to the whole BF1942 community if one was never offered. Skins for uniforms and planes are cool, but I want more.
